Wikipedia's Dark Side

Science? Religion? Personalities? Politics? Who's really controlling Wikipedia content? You might be surprised to learn how often unseen special interests and PR firms with an agenda are influencing what you see on the world's most popular encyclopedia. If one of these forces is acting as an editor to control a Wikipedia page or topic for a client, you may find it impossible to enter facts that are contrary to their desired narrative. That's according to insiders who spoke to us for our upcoming cover story on Full Measure: Wikipedia's Dark Side.

Coming up on Full Measure: Wikipedia's Dark Side

We'll hear how the slogan, "the encyclopedia anyone can edit," is a misnomer. A thousand people a day are blocked from editing Wikipedia. Others find that their factual edits are removed...sometimes seconds after they make them.

And if you go up against Wikipedia's most powerful volunteer editors, you may find they invade your privacy or even get you fired from your job.

Also on this week's program, we'll explore efforts to make the government comply with Freedom of Information Law. When Congress proposed a bipartisan fix last year, we later learned the Obama administration worked behind the scenes to scuttle it.

And as tax day approaches, Scott Thuman will tell how each presidential candidate's tax plan could affect you.
