Military construction money to be used to build additional border wall

A scene along the U.S.- Mexico border (in Texas)

As campaign 2020 heats up, President Trump is finding additional ways to fund miles of U.S. Southwest border wall.

This week, it was announced that $3.6 billion in tax money earmarked for military construction will be used to construct 175 miles of wall.

Congress has continually refused to approve the billions of dollars in funding President Trump has asked for to pay for the wall project along the U.S. -Mexico border.

There’s no word yet on which military projects are now unfunded in order that the money be moved. However, the Pentagon says the projects are deferred, not cancelled.

  1. It is a perfect use of the funds. What better use than protecting Americans without a military engagement. Love Trump. We just keep winning, KAG

  2. Trump said that MEXICO would pay for the wall. That was and is a lie. Military families across the country will be deprived of things like upgrades to deteriorating school for trumps vanity wall that experts say WILL not keep people out because according to Homeland security it’s not the people crossing the boarders that have increased the number of immigrants in the US-it’s the people who come in on legal visa and overstay them. These folks just don’t go home.

-Virginia Democratic Sens. Tim Kaine and Mark Warner slammed the move, saying their state alone will lose more than $77 million in planned construction projects. In all, four military projects will be impacted in Virginia.

*”I’m deeply concerned about President Trump’s plan to pull funding from critical national security projects — including millions of dollars from important projects in Virginia — so he can build his border wall,” Kaine said. “The well-being of American troops is the core responsibility of every commander in the military, yet the commander in chief is shirking that duty so he can advance his own political agenda.”*

Those projects would have put Americans to work but now those jobs will be lost. I guess that’s OK with people.

What about the Canadian borders? People cross them all the time and stay so we know why the Southern Borders are a issue for people.

    1. You are correct that Trump is mistaken but, with respect, in journalism terms, a pledge that is unfulfilled is not necessarily a “lie.” A lie requires knowledge and intent at the time it is told that the person is being deceitful. Many political promises are pie in the sky but not necessarily “lies.” Though some are–
