A list of failed climate and other doomsday predictions

Experts have been predicting the end of the world as we know it for decades….but luckily, we are still here.

Myron Ebell and Steven J. Malloy of the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) have compiled a lengthy list of apocalyptic predictions whose due dates have come and gone. Here are just a few:

  • Dire Famine by 1975, according to a Stanford University biologist.
  • Air pollution causing new Ice Age by 2000, according to a scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research.
  • Americans would be rationing water by 1974 and food by 1980, according to noted ecologist, Dr. Paul Erlich.
  • The Republic of Maldives will be submerged due to rising oceans by 2018, says their Environmental Affairs Director in 1988.
  • Snowfall would become a thing of the past, according to a senior research scientist at the University of East Anglia in 2000.

Scientists from the 1970’s appeared to be particularly worried about the cooling trends and an impending ice age in the 21st century. Before they decided the real threat was the opposite: Global Warming.

  1. There are four very simple facts these Lefty-Liberals will not acknowledge:

#1 This Earth can only sustain 2 billion people without burning fossil fuel – John Deere does not run on batteries… so, what to do with 5 billion dead bodies?

#2 The “deal” Trump wisely backed us out of would have taxed USA and sent this money to the #1 and #4 producers of CO2 – Chairman Mao’s China, and India…

#3 Every time you as a consumer purchase a product “Made in China” or Vietnam, you are supporting their Communist Government’s decision to move from a self sustaining food system that is mostly carbon neutral to urban factory workers (very high carbon footprint) who then have to buy food grown on commercial farms using millions of gallons of diesel fuel… plus, much of it has to be imported from USA (more heavy crude oil being burned in marine diesels)

#4, a 6th grader knows there is no price for a train ticket to Hawaii…. as AOC wants to replace air travel with trains…..hmmm

  2. DOES LOOK LIKE THEY ARE WERE SCAMS. RESCARCH IS NEEDED TO SEE HOW MANY OF THEM IS IN THE LAST FEW . LIKE GLOBLE WARMING (SCAM )

  3. I lived through these and remember several, but you’ve shown me a lot more. And focusing on Global Warming….er (ahem: “Climate Change”, here we are in 2020. That’s a seminal year when a number of these con artists said we’d all be dead or living in chaos with little food, wars for extremely little resources, and flooded sea towns. Hey! What are you doing here? You and I are supposed to be dead!

  4. They came up with term “climate change” because: If it cools they win, and if it warms, they still win. No need to look at the long-term, of course. If something happens over a very short period of time–say a year or two, they declare this is proof of warming or cooling and therefore, something radical must be done to avert “disaster”. It is well-established that “climate change” is yet another fake crisis to reel in our rights and further restrict us. The ultimate goal is to have everyone living as a gray, unisex drone that only repeats approved opinions and does what they are told.

  5. I’d like to see a book of all these failed predictions, titled “The World Will End At Midnight (12:30 Newfoundland)”
