Fresh upon his release from prison after President Trump commuted his sentence, one-time Democrat Rod Blagojevich declared himself a "Trumpocrat."

The former Illinois Governor was convicted in 2011 on 17 counts of corruption including an unsuccessful attempt to "sell" a U.S. Senate seat vacated when President Obama was elected. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison and has been serving time in 2012.

President Trump told reporters that Blagojevich's sentence was extremely harsh and he was prosecuted by "the same people" blamed in alleged misconduct when it came to targeting the Trump campaign and presidency.

Blagojevich also said he has "everlasting gratitude" toward Trump.

“Everlasting gratitude for President Trump. He didn’t have to do this.

He’s a republican president. I was a democratic governor.” @DanaCBS2 tracked Rod Blagojevich down at the airport in Denver.

Good for Rod to be able to get home with his family. Trump was right. The prosecutors were from the Deep State swamp, especially this Fitzgerald, who's a legal hack. I hope Rod can get back on track to earn a living, since he has paid his debt to society several times over.

Couldn't have said it better, Eric! I wish Gov. Blagojevich well. Live long and prosper comes to mind. 🙂
