Actor Gary Sinise has received the Patriot Award, the highest civilian honor given out by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society.
Sinise is probably best known for his role as Lieutenant Dan Taylor in the movie, “Forrest Gump.”
Sinise is also known for his efforts to recognize and improve the lives of military members, veterans, and their families. He started the Gary Sinise Foundation in 2010, which is dedicated to serving our nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need.
Sinise received the award at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.
Freedom and security are precious gifts that we, as Americans, should never take for granted. We must do all we can to extend our hand in times of need to those who willingly sacrifice each day to provide that freedom and security.
While we can never do enough to show gratitude to our nation’s defenders, we can always do a little more.

He deserves it .ch
Gary, it seems he has been helping veterans forever. I’m very sure that he doesn’t do it for the awards or the recognition. Even though it is muchly deserved. Every time that I see his name mentioned in the news the first thing that I think about him are his contributions to the veterans and then much later that he is also an actor. I just wish that more people in his line of work would realize that there are many veterans out here that could use the help and to put their talents into a good cause.
Should be “Patriot Award”; not “Patiot Award”
