POLL: Majority say political attacks are “hate crimes”

Roughly two-thirds say attacks on people because of their political beliefs should be labeled “hate crimes.”

That’s according to the latest unscientific poll at SharylAttkisson.com.

About one-third say such attacks should not be labeled “hate crimes” either because there aren’t “hate crimes” or because it’s “not a hate crime.”

Should attacks on people because of their political beliefs be labeled “hate crimes”?

64% Yes

24% No, there aren’t “hate crimes”

11% No, it’s not a hate crime

<1% I don’t know/don’t care

I don’t like the idea of anything being labeled a “hate crime”. If someone commits a crime then they should be charged with a criminal offense even if some of the motivation was “hate”.. With regard to speech, how does one define “hate”. Who gets to play God and determines what “hate” speech is? What might be termed “hate” by one person might be truth to another and, in fact, may be the truth. Further, just because someone doesn’t like what another person says doesn’t necessarily make what was said “hate speech” especially when political beliefs are involved. We go down a very dangerous rode when we want to designate political attacks as “hate crimes”, unless an actual crime was committed, because again what one person or a group of people find hateful may not be to another and might be the truth. We do far more damage to out country and its political systems when the truth can be suppressed because of “hate crime laws.”

We have a First Amendment that very broadly protects our free speech rights. We have that amendment for a reason. “Hate speech” for the most part is protected by that amendment as it should be. We each have a right and a responsibility to determine the truth for ourselves. We may not like what other people say but they have the right to express their opinion as falsehoods and stupidity are much easier to recognize when they are exposed to the light of day. Open, free debates are a requirement in free societies as they help to keep us free.. Criminalizing ‘hate speech” of any sort will close down the search for truth and will ultimately result in a country being run by a dictator.

  2. I did not take the question to mean speech my interpretation was that of physical attack. That being said, I believe it’s Hate Crime Just as being attacked because of race is Hate Crime . It’s quite obvious in the current climate . I’m NOT in favor of ANY speech being labeled Hate Speech or being restricted. However, attacking someone IS a crime .

I’ve been struggling to find a conservative
journalist who’ll expose the C’ville false flag:

    BUSING IN RIOTERS

Charlottesville rioters were bussed in. Witnesses
saw buses drive in and line up along a downtown
street, the day before rioting started.

White and black agent-provocateurs, holding both
pro and anti statue-removal posters, disembarked
    from, I suspect, Soros-paid transportation.

CEO Erick Hayden on Twitter: “What the protestors
are doing to the police cars in this video is exactly
what protestors in Charlottesville began to do to
James Fields’ car. They smashed his tail lights, they
started smashing his windows. He did what the
police did here: tried to get the hell out of there.”

  4. People are being physically attacked for wearing a MAGA hat, losing their jobs for saying they support President Trump. Hell, Coach Mike Gundy of Oklahoma State unfortunately was shamed into apologizing for wearing an OAN tee shirt on his day off to go fishing. Are you kidding me. Screw these clowns. If more people would quit cowering before them…..well I guess they can’t because there’s no one to protect them now. I hope the Democrats are happy now that they’ve turned America into a third world country. It probably has nothing to do with the rampant illegal immigration, though.
