US soccer issues apology; will now allow players to sit or kneel during National Anthem

The following is an excerpt from an article at JustTheNews.com.

The U.S. Soccer Board of Directors has voted to revoke a policy that required athletes remain standing for the national anthem.

“The policy was put in place after Megan Rapinoe kneeled in solidarity with the peaceful protest inspired by Colin Kaepernick, who was protesting police brutality, and the systemic oppression of black people and people of color in America. It has become clear that this policy was wrong and detracted from the important message of Black Lives Matter,” the U.S. Soccer Federation said in a statement about the vote Tuesday.

Such kneeling protests have proven polarizing over the years, spurring strong societal debate.

National attention has focused on issues relating to race in the wake of the May 25 death of George Floyd in Minnesota. Floyd, a black man, was pinned by a white officer and could be heard in a video saying that he could not breathe.

In its statement U.S. Soccer also issued an apology to “all who support eradicating racism.”  (Continued…)

    1. Perfect. Kaepernick is from my home town….I was originally proud of him, now feel only disgust at his behavior. I would say shame on him, but he has no shame. He is a multi-millionaire however. He has been rewarded hugely for his un-Patriotic soul, however. He was a mediocre football player, and like my dear Mother used to say “You made your bed, now sleep in it”. Besides, you don’t see Kaepernick hollering for his job back, now do you? Why? Because there;s no glory in it for him. He’s a huge phoney.

  1. Of course BLM began as a lie. Hands up don’t shoot never happened … US Soccer has decided what folks think no longer matters. We’ll see.

  2. They issued an apology to all who support eradicating racism. I support that. But I also support eradicating all those who support destroying the United States of America and turning it into the “Altered” States of America.

  3. Write a letter to U.S. Soccer Federation, 1801 S. Prairie Avenue, Chicago Illinois 60616. Black lives don’t matter in Southside Chicago, except when BLM can promote victimhood and destruction. Mob justice rules and all these organizations aren’t helping by promoting bad behavior that hurts blacks and everyone else in their own communities. The government’s of China, Russian, N.Korea, Iran are thrilled that we should hate our own country. They can sit back and watch us destroy ourselves. How about a new movement: Behavior Matters.

  4. I suggest keeping the teams off the field until after pregame and anthem.
The sport is not the players’ soapbox. Players can yack and posture all they want when they’re off the field…..NOT during their “paid job”.
