Gallup: Trump approval up slightly; Congress down

President Trump’s approval rating is slightly up, three percentage points, in the latest Gallup poll, matching his level from November 2019: 41%. Trump’s approval was 39% in June.

Meantime, approval of Congress has slipped to an anemic 18%.

According to Gallup, partisans’ approval ratings of Congress have declined by double digits since May: “Democrats’ approval has fallen the most — from 39% to 20%. At the same time, Republicans’ approval has dropped from 24% to 14% and independents’ from 32% to 21%.”

Although President Trump’s approval is slightly improved over last month, it’s substantially below Gallup’s post-impeachment measure for him of 49% prior to the coronavirus crisis and dive in the economy.
