CNN, NBC paid Antifa activist for video he shot during Jan. 6th Capitol breach

John Sullivan

Three news agencies reportedly paid an activist identified with Antifa and the Black Lives Matter movement for video footage he shot while allegedly committing crimes during the January 6th breach of the U.S. Capitol.

CNN, NBC and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) paid John Earle Sullivan a total of $72,375 to use video clips he shot while inside the Capitol during the January 6th riot, according to The Epoch Times.

Sullivan, 26, was arrested and charged last month for allegedly committing multiple crimes on Jan. 6, including violent entry, civil disorder, and disorderly conduct.

It is reported that some of the footage used shows Sullivan urging others to go inside and burn the structure down.

Sullivan was already banned from using Twitter and Facebook, along with 11 other websites, by a judge in Utah in a separate case. Sullivan was arrested last year for allegedly rioting and other crimes in the state. His primary Twitter account has been suspended; a search of Facebook didn’t turn up a profile. He has claimed to be a journalist as a defense for what he did in Washington, but authorities say that was a front.

The Epoch Times

Sullivan was released from jail shortly after being charged for crimes related to January 6th. He is ordered to remain at home and not use social media platforms to incite riots of violent protests.

  1. For those keeping score at home:
    – Number of known BLM sympathizers arrested for the Capitol riot (as of 2/20): 1
    – Number of known Trump supporters arrested for the Capitol riot (as of 2/20): 234
    – Number of articles in this newsletter about the ONE BLM sympathizer arrested for the Capitol riot: 3
    – Number of articles in this newsletter about the MANY Trump supporters arrested for the Capitol riot: 0
Just curious, how does this in any possible way represent nonpartisan reporting?

    1. None of what you said is true.76 non-Trump voters arrested and so many articles on the proud boys,booga-loo boys,Ashley Babbit, etc.Saw the video by Sullivan with him yelling burn it down in his Trump hat.He was released with as slap on the wrist.BTW…video removed!

      1. OK – I’m guilty of assuming “facts not in evidence”. I can’t claim that all but one of the rioters were Trump supporters. I tried to find the breakdown but was not successful. All I found was an article stating that about 10% of those arrested had know ties to right-wing extremist groups. But, to be fair, the article didn’t say that they were Trump supporters although that does seem like a reasonable assumption.
The point that I was trying to make was that this newsletter has concentrated on the one guy that I know of who was at the riot who is a known BLM sympathizer while ignoring the many, many others that have been arrested that are known to be right-wingers (I don’t know what the final tally will turn out to be, but I feel confident that it will tilt heavily toward Trump supporters). I don’t remember an single article that discussed in any detail those Trump supporters that have been arrested. It is true that Ashli Babbit was mentioned but only in the context of being the woman that was killed. It seems to me that this is an attempt to slant the coverage to make it seem that there were significant “antifa” people at the riot in an attempt to somehow lessen Trump’s guilt.

You are on the right track, Mr. Lanier. But I have found that anything critical of Donald Trump is not welcomed by those who think Trump did no wrong on Jan.. 6. They don’t want to
let the facts interfere with a good story.

          1. Gordon, How many of those “Unnamed Co-Conspirators were FBI agents and Confidential Informants ?

  2. Just wondering if they had a contract with him prior to the Jan 6th date or did they decide to “help” him avoid legal repercussions by telling law enforcement that he was a “reporter” for them. This way he could hide behind behind their skirts when in all reality he was there to actually incite and do damage.
