Missouri County takes 2nd Amendment sanctuary law a step further

Newton County, Missouri has enacted a Second Amendment sanctuary law that permits local law enforcement to arrest any federal officers attempting to enforce a firearms law that violates Second Amendment protections.

“Sanctuary laws” generally refer to local laws passed to protect citizens from the enforcement of a federal law that local legislators deem unlawful or unconstitutional. They are most often seen in the context of firearms and immigration.

The “Second Amendment Preservation Act of Newton County Missouri” reads, in part:

All federal acts, laws, orders, rules, and regulations passed by the federal government and specifically any presidential administration whether past, present, or future, which infringe on the people’s right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and Article 1, Section 23 of the Missouri Constitution shall be invalid in the county, shall not be recognized by this county, and specifically rejected by this county, and shall be considered null and void and of no effect in this County.

  1. The entire state of Kansas has this law for sometime now. You really think the sheriff’s and Attorney’s General have the nuts to enforce it. No is the short and correct answer. The feds came in the week it was passed and the AG did nothing to protect the citizens of Kansas. Governor’s are flakes also as was ours.

    1. It’s been “played out” in “sanctuary cities” for many years – ask the hundreds of victims of crime committed by illegal immigrants the last 15-20 years

On the face of it. this seems rather silly. If a federal employee is actually arrested, it will end up in an argument over whose interpretation of the 2nd Amendment is correct. Good luck.
