Rethinking Lockdowns; Boys Playing on the Girls’ Team; Deep Ocean Search for Life

After a nationwide Covid-19 lockdown, some parts of the country have continued restrictive practices.

But more and more studies are finding they don’t work.

Sunday on Full Measure, I follow up with Stanford Professor of Medicine Jay Bhattacharya. He was one of the first scientists to speak out and say that science showed lockdowns would do more harm than good.

Since then, thousands of scientists have signed on against lockdowns. And a new study looking at hard data in a dozen countries confirms that countries with strict lockdowns didn’t fare better than ones like S. Korea where less restrictive safety measures were imposed.

I’ll also follow up on my reporting on transgender athletes in high school.

A new executive order signed by President Biden is creating confusion. It seems to suggest that athletes should be allowed to switch from the boys’ team to the girls’ team.

That creates a clash with an unusual alliance of conservative groups and feminist activists who say that allowing transgenders to compete on the opposite sex team robs women of opportunities guaranteed under Title IX civil rights legislation.

We’ll take a deeper look.

And speaking of a deeper look, Lisa Fletcher takes us on a deep dive to the bottom of the ocean in search of life’s true origin.

We never waste your time rehashing the same news you’ve heard all week. Find out where and when to watch on TV or online by clicking this link: How to Watch Full Measure

  1. Sharyl and Full Measure Team,

    — Fauci Worked to Engineer ‘Gain of Function’ Bio-Weapon —

“Fauci was a big proponent of “gain of function” research, and when this was prohibited at Baric’s lab because it was considered to be too dangerous, the research was shifted to China.
Prof. Tritto believes that, while Dr. Shi’s research began as an effort to develop a vaccine against SARS, it gradually morphed into an effort to use “reverse genetics” to build lethal biological weapons.  This was the reason that the Wuhan lab became China’s leading center for virology research in recent years, attracting major funding and support from the central government.” :

    In the article, microbiologist/virologist argues
such a weaponized virus likely would not be
    battled using any vaccine.

  2. Your show on transgender women in sports yesterday ended by stating, in essence, that the non-trans woman finally beating the trans woman in the 40-yard dash proved that it didn’t make a difference. One data point is an anomaly, two data points are a coincidence, and three data points are a trend. Just bec one non-trans woman eventually beat the trans woman after, what, four years?, doesn’t mean that women in sports aren’t being discriminated against in scholarships and other opportunities. That would be like saying that just bec a man on steroids didn’t win every time proved that it didn’t matter, or that just bec a bicyclist didn’t win every race by doping meant that it didn’t matter. Highly respect you and your show.

    1. I agree with you. I ended by saying that some people think that; I don’t happen to be one of them. But I do try to cover various views and do not spend the time of the story reporting on my own…
