United Health Services, a for-profit hospital operator, is giving back $188 million in federal relief aid after recording $209 million in profit during the first quarter of 2021. That’s according to a report in Becker’s Hospital Review.
The Pennsylvania-based company announced that its $3 billion gross revenue for the first quarter of 2021 increased 6.5% from the same period in 2020, according to the report.
The company’s net revenue increased even though hospital admissions and patient days reportedly decreased compared to the same period last year.
The hospital chain also repaid $695 million in taxpayer funds received from the Medicare Accelerated and Advance Payment Program, according to the report.
