Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colorado) recently reintroduced proposed legislation to punish China for its theft of U.S. intellectual property.
"The Commission on the Theft of American Intellectual Property" estimates that theft of intellectual property costs the U.S. economy $600 billion every year.
According to officials, the Chinese government is the chief thief of America's intellectual property. More than 80% of cases charged as economic espionage reportedly involve China, as well as 60% of trade secret cases brought.
The Republican Study Committee in Congress is proposing a batch of legislation to fight violations by Communist China.
โWhat Americans innovate, China steals. Chinaโs long history of intellectual property theft costs the United States billions of dollars each year. My bill combats China and other hostile nationsโ ability to steal our intellectual property and do untold harm to our economy."
