(READ) Sen. Grassley asks DOJ about disparate riot prosecutions

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) is asking the U.S. Justice Department to explain the differences between the prosecutions of rioters at violent and destructive riots over the summer and fall of 2020 and the January 6th Capitol rioters.

The letter questions whether the law has been applied equally to the people who participated in riots during the summer and fall of 2020 and the people who were present at the Capitol on January 6th.

The law must be applied equally without regard to party, power or privilege. When the Department of Justice treats similar criminal acts differently, such conduct erodes faith in our governmental institutions and the law.

Sen. Chuck Grassley

Grassley asks about the numbers of people arrested, charged, released on bail, and fully prosecuted during the summer 2020 Portland, Oregon riots that involved a months’ long violent seize of a federal courthouse compared to the same data for the January 6th riot.

    1. Having watched the Fast and Furious dog and pony show Grassley produced with Darryl Issa, I have much less respect for Senator Grassley. Lots of pontification, but zero follow-through. Don’t hang your hopes on this coatrack.

  1. One group is violent insurrectionists while another group is mostly peaceful protesters exercising their constitutional freedoms.

      I agree 100%.
BLM and Antifa are definitely violent insurrectionists.

And we’re finding out by the hour the peaceful protesters at the capital correct in challenging a stolen election. It’s their duty to protect the integrity of our democracy from from a foreign CCP inspired coup d’etat.

      1. There is now a video of police officers helping people inside of the capital and capital police removing Barriers. Capital police leading the way. there was little violence there where no weapons and nobody was killed except for Ashley. shot by a BLM activist cop!
Between what’s happened in Georgia.the photocopy ballots. Maricopa county I would say these people should’ve stormed the capital and they should’ve stopped the fraudulent proceedings of Biden being put in as president. Audits of all of the states elections should be done on camera for the whole world to watch and they should include forensic examinations of the ballots . Never before has the counting stopped in five states in the middle of the night. then dumps of hundreds of thousands of votes for Biden. corruption and fraud Biden stole the election! Democrats know this that’s why they oppose this!!!

  2. Senator Grassley is right on target. However, Black Lives Matter and Antifa are not mentioned by name. These organizations are terrorists and are the perpetrators. The police should be armed with lethal loaded weapons and the rioters attacking police should be shot on the spot and if they live, prosecuted. We’ll see what the attorney general does..
