Republicans push for ban on vaccine passports

Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-Fl.), Louie Gohmert (R-Tx.) and Lance Gooden (R-Tx.) have proposed a law to bar federal taxpayer money from being used to fund and/or enforce “any program that uses digital health passes” to verify Covid-19 vaccination status.

We will not allow the public health bureaucracy to be a new entity to drain our liberty away in the United States of America. The federal government has no business asking Americans for their vaccination status, and they should not have the ability to use taxpayer funds to support third parties who do. Americans will not trade mask mandates for vaccine mandates. I urge every freedom fighter in the Congress to join my efforts to ban federal support for vaccine passports,

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fl.)

Several states have instituted their own form of bans on use of so-called vaccine passports.

There is controversy around the world over the question of whether governments can and should require people to produce papers to prove their vaccination status.

Republicans current are in a minority in Congress and cannot, on their own, get legislation passed.

  1. Thank God two from Texas. Now we need to replace the Abbott admin for the huffines admin and we will be good to go.

  2. pleasepleaseplease prohibit governments from requiring us “to produce papers to prove” our vaccination status – many of us can’t get vaccinated, often because of either complex or simple health reasons (allergies), while others won’t (on principle) and who’s going to check all this? what about cooking up laws for those who can’t/won’t oblige? as it is governments seem incapable of adhering to fairly straightforward voter ID or implement voter integrity, so when and how will they ever be able to organise themselves on vaccination IDs? this is so very bad!

  3. We went from “Two weeks to stop the spread” To “Show me your papers” in under two years. Who did Nazi that coming.?
