POLL: Most say it’s ‘an honor’ to have a sports team named after a group, such as ‘Indians’

The vast majority of people say it’s an honor, not an insult, to have a sports team named after a group, such as “Indians.”

That’s according to the latest unscientific poll of 693 people at SharylAttkisson.com.

Ninety-three percent (93%) said the naming is an honor.

One percent (1%) said it’s a “terrible insult.”

It’s an honor to have a sports team named after a group, such as “Indians”

93% Absolutely, yes!

1% No! It’s a terrible insult!

6% I don’t know.

  1. Here in Indy, we have the minor league Indianapolis Indians. Thus, a Trifecta: Indiana, Indianapolis, Indians. What would the maniacal wokies do to these names? The team, at least, could become the Fighting Vagrants, in light of our leftist Mayor Hogsett’s effect on downtown public safety.

      1. Susan—
my wife, Susan, is a Jungian INTP,
as well (( extremely rare combo
        in marriages!, as Jungian psycholo-
        gists have determined )), simply
got to the CRUX of it several years
        ago, when Wokeness had been
        breaking out everywhere, re NAMES.

She had opined one morning after
        a CBS news report :

        “Refer to everyone as C O M R A D E !”

  2. SOON PEOPLE WILL NEVER KNOW THE INDIAN’S EVEN EXISTED… THEY HAVE ERASED THEM… THE WORD INDIAN BRAVE WILL BE MEANINGLESS A PROUD PEOPLE ….JUST A FOOT NOTE IN HISTORY .BUT THE WOKE MAY JUST ERASE ALL HISTORY TO MAKE EVERYONE EQUAL LIKE THE COMMUNISTS THEY ARE…

  3. That figures….so we’re allowing 1% of the population to dictate how we live our lives. That only shows us all how brilliant we really are.

  4. The University of North Dakota was forced to change its nickname Fighting Sioux by the spineless National Collegiate Athletic Association – the NCAA!

‘In 2005, the NCAA made a decision to sanction 19 schools, including UND, with Native American logos and/or nicknames that were deemed to be “hostile and abusive.” The sanctions would not allow these schools to use their names or logos in post-season play nor would they be able to host post-season championships. After an unsuccessful appeal to reverse the sanctions, UND started to pursue its legal options’. Wikipedia

If you’d like to read more of the political story: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Dakota_Fighting_Sioux_controversy

In the end, it was the NCAA, not UND students, not North Dakota political groups, not North Dakota Indian tribes, not North Dakota voters, it was the NCAA that forced the University of North Dakota to change its nickname and logo. The NCAA snowflakes collapsed to minority political pressure.

  5. Historically, Native Americans have supported the name “Washington Redskins” at a rate of about 84%. It was demonstrated in poll after poll. But SJWs don’t care.
