(POLL) Covid-19 Omicron dims optimism, yet no rising fear of infection

There’s declining optimism that the coronavirus pandemic is fading. That amid recent rises in Covid-19 cases and the apparent take over by the Omicron variant.

However, Americans say they are no more concerned about catching the virus now than they were in recent months.

That’s according to a recent tracking Gallup survey.

Previously, data showed 51% of Americans said they believed the coronavirus situation was getting better.

But the more recent survey indicates only 31% say they believe the Covid situation is improving.

Gallup says, “October had been the first month since June that Americans’ outlook for the situation was more positive than negative, after turning sharply negative over the summer. The outlook was significantly more positive in the first half of the year, during the vaccine rollout — peaking in June, when 89% said the situation was getting better.”

Despite the shifts in American perceptions of how the pandemic is going, fear of getting infected with Covid-19 has been relatively flat since August, where it was reported to be near 40% now it’s slightly lower at 38%.

  1. Covid cases worldwide have more than doubled since mid-October: from 405,941 on October 14th to 980,027 yesterday (December 23rd). (Source: Worldometer) Deaths, however, have actually declined: from 7,873 on October 14th to 6,942 yesterday. Moreover, deaths have been on a slight downward trend for about two weeks despite the explosion in case numbers. In fact, deaths have been basically flat or even declining for at least two months.

I think that the public is becoming aware of these trends despite the fearmongering from some in the medical establishment and the MSM, and that may explain why the fear of infection is dropping. Herd immunity, perhaps delayed by the premature inoculation of too many low-risk people, may finally be within our grasp.

  2. We are acting like frogs in the pan of boiling water. If we don’t change the way we look at this we won’t learn anything. For instance, Bill Frist was the next pick for president and when caught selling 13 million in family medical stock was forced to resign. Yet most people don’t recognize the leader of the senate and the correlation to what is happening in congress today. Look at the % medical costs then vs now. It is not a coincidence how they rose to power. Weaponizing industries is the tactic, Now compare the progression of criminals from small crimes to larger. When they go unpunished, ergo Frist, they become emboldened and the crimes get more brazen. Savings and loan bailout,911,HIV,housing bubble to patents on corona virus dating back to 2015. Now,the gang has taken over the industry. Do no harm is forgotten like what being a human may soon well be. There are law suits around the world unreported as children are targeted for needless vaccine. In order to avoid legal exposure if they get full authorization.
