(WATCH) Global Health Security after Covid

As America attempts to pull out of its Covid nightmare, public health experts are already embarking upon Lessons Learned exercises. Lawrence Gostin is professor at Georgetown University and Director of the World Health Organization Center on Global Health Law. In his new book, Global Health Security, he sets forth a blueprint for the post-Covid future.

Lawrence Gostin: Basically its thesis is that we have a constant vicious cycle where we bounce between complacency and panic. So every time we have an outbreak, whether it’s, Ebola or polio or Zika, we panic and we throw all of our resources at it. Then when it goes away, we forget about it. And we disinvest in our public health infrastructure and in our health system in research and development, and then it just comes roaring back. And so the question is, have we learned the lesson of COVID. So not since 1918 with the great influenza pandemic, have we experienced anything like this in our lifetimes. Will we learn the lesson? Will we actually trust in science and regain our trust in public health agencies?

Sharyl: A lot of the issues you talk about, seem to me, related in part to implementation because taxpayers, if you’ve been around long enough as I have, billions and billions of dollars have gone toward ongoing preparedness, so that when an emergency happens, we’re not running around with our hair on fire, as we seem to do. How do you solve that problem?

Gostin: We just had a solemn understanding of the 20th anniversary of 9/11, but from a public health point of view, there’s a much more important anniversary, which is October 5th, which is the first diagnosed case of anthrax, and anthrax attack in the United States. We invested a lot in public health then, but then we hollowed it out, we disinvested. We did the same thing when influenza H1N1 came, and then we disinvested. And it turns out, that we didn’t invest in our public health systems the way we thought we had, and that we actually hollowed them out. So, we have a lot of catching up to do.

Sharyl: In 10 years from now, if you were to look back at the period between COVID and what happened since, what would you like to see?

Gostin : I would like to see us really invest in public health and safety.

Sharyl: Just putting more money into-

Gostin: I would put more money into it, more training into it, more awareness into it. I would have our public health communication in ways that are so much better than we’ve seen now, with all of the chaos that we’ve seen from the CDC and the World Health Organization and state and local health departments. And politicizing science in ways that I could never have dreamed of in all of my life. We want to trust in our scientists. We need the medicines and the vaccines that help us stay safe and secure. And we want to be a healthy, robust society where our kids go to school and we go to work and we’re happy and prosperous. That can never happen, unless we actually protect ourselves against Mother Nature. Because what we found out, is that when Mother Nature gets serious, she’s a formidable force. We’ve seen it with climate and now we’ve seen it with pathogens.

Sharyl (on-camera): Gostin says the World Health Organization’s biggest flaw during Covid-19 might have been its failure or inability to independently verify China’s reporting about the virus.

  1. Even if we ever get past Covid, it is clear that the globalists will not let go of the power this has given them. Klaus Schwab’s book, “Covid-19: The Great Reset,” makes that clear. Whether it is some other virus, or “climate change,” or “domestic terrorism” – or all of the above – it is clear that the globalists seem intent on imposing some sort of unprecedented tyranny on the world.

Biden’s fake “World Democracy Summit” is the latest manifestation of the incessant gaslighting we have been experiencing for the last several years. Even as the globalists warn of the “threat to democracy” posed by conservatives, they warn of the dangers of “populism.” “Populism” refers to a style of politics which gives priority to the concerns of the common man, so you would think that “populism” would actually be a very democratic (small “d”) approach to governance. The fact that the globalists are alarmed by the rise of populism is a tip-off that their claims to support “democracy” are a sham, and what they really want is top-down government, no questions asked.

What are the policies proposed by these proponents of “democracy”? Vaccine mandates, and unemployment and concentration camps for those who resist; telling parents they have no right to a say in what their children are taught; censorship of minority viewpoints; Green New Deal mandates that tell us what kind of car we can have (or IF we can have one), what kind of house we can have (IF we can have one); what kind of fuels we can use; and a thousand other details of our private lives.

And that isn’t all: they tell us when we can go to church, and what we can do there; the tell us what our opinions must be, and if we disagree with them, we can lose our job; they believe that their right to influence children supersedes that of parents; they want to tell us what we can eat; their lust for power and control literally knows no limits,

For the globalists, “democracy” is just a term of propaganda, as are words like “family,” “choice,” “community,” “diversity,” “the Constitution,” and even “love.” An eerie cloud of deception is spreading over the land.

    1. Well said, Stephen Triesch. If we’ve learned anything the last two years, we should at least understand the metrics of Mr Global’s psyop. Unfortunately–as Dr Robert Malone stated (referencing the psychologist Dr Mattias Desmet) we are cognitively impaired (or hypnotized) as a society, and we are suffering as a result of ‘mass formation psychosis.’
All who remain compliant collaborators support the efforts (unwittingly) of the techno-fascists. The lockdown protests overseas, though awesome in size, are necessary– and yet, still not enough. Until we say No to all tyranny and create agreements that We choose as a result of a socially democratic process we are in a spin cycle– which serves the purpose of breaking the will of the citizenry over time. We can no longer afford to think that employing the same corrupt political systems and fraudulent judicial programs will lead to the best outcome. We are at the watershed and must rise to the occasion.

  2. Wow, could he be more vague? More money? Great but we’d like to know what you’d do with it. Too many bureaucrats have had unfettered power over how money is spent and wealthy individuals like Bill Gates have the ear of our public health authorities. Personally, after the boondoggle of Covid between inconsistent messaging, ignoring `collateral damage of the response, not even having procured the most basic equipment needed for the pandemic they have been predicting for more than a decade, investing in gain of function testing with the CCP which likely caused the pandemic in the first place. No, I don’t think they need more money, we need to drain the swamp

  4. Of course. More money. That’s all it ever is. Then when the shit hits the fan we scramble to build ventilators. Where does all the money go.
Someone check Fauci’s bank account while they’re at it.
What’s the point? Look at the recent move Biden just made to deplete the Strategic Oil Reserve….
Everyone is acting like he doesn’t know what he is doing.

    1. I think that with every new demand for yet another booster – or two or three – the rebellion to this tyranny is going to grow, More and more people are going to start to ask questions as the remedies proposed by the ‘experts” continue to fail. People who still trust Fauci are going to begin to get sick of him and his bloated ego.

Yes, there is a huge propaganda effort aimed at the unvaccinated – the selfish, the unclean, the terrorists (as Washington Governor Jay Inslee recently likened them to). This dangerous rhetoric even influences some conservatives, and it will be hard to overcome. The only thing that will overcome it is – I think – the ongoing failure of the experts’ remedies despite higher and higher vaccination rates and additional rounds of boosters. Someday, honest journalism may break through and give a wider audience to the questions that people like Sharyl are asking, and to the be data that lies behind those questions.
