(POLL) Nearly 30% say our leaders did not value scientific expertise in 2020

Nearly three in 10 adults (28%) globally say they feel their government leaders did not place much or any value on scientists’ expertise in 2020. That’s according to a recent Wellcome Global Monitor report.

About one in in four adults surveyed in 2020, the year Covid-19 took hold around the world, said they think the leaders in their national government value the opinions and expertise of scientists “a lot.” About 35% said government leaders place “some” value in scientists’ expert opinions.

The Wellcome Global Monitor is a survey conducted in 113 countries and territories throughout 2020. The survey used representative sampling to gather how more than 90% of the world’s adult population says it felt about Covid-19, science, government and trust in institutions during the first full year of the pandemic.

  1. THIS WOULD BE BECAUSE THERE ALL OLD ENOFE TO KNOW SOME 60 YR AGO THEM SO CALLED SCIENTITIC WAYS WERE BOUGHT AND OWNED. AND BOUGHT BY THE U.S. GOV. WHEN TEY ALL LIED ABOUT THE EFFECTS OF POT. AND MY SELF AT 72 NOW. I TOO LOST TRUST IN ANY THING THEY SAY BACK THEN . AND NOW THERE STILL BEING BOUGFHT AND OWNED EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK

  2. I wonder WHICH scientists the respondents thought the government should have been listening to? Robert Malone, or Anthony Fauci, for example. As it is, it’s not as if nothing was done. Entire countries were shut down. and the US and other countries prioritized the creation of vaccines. It certainly seemed as if countries were listening to scientific experts. Maybe they were listening to the wrong ones. Maybe the scientific community was infected by politicized group-think, and that some of the best ideas were censored or shouted down.

Pre-vaccine, the general public was told to wash their hands and practice social distancing. Period.
They were given no guidance whatsoever concerning OTC medicines that might have done something to curtail the spread and seriousness of the pandemic. Indeed, people were actively discouraged from using any such precautions. And now that vaccines are available, the message is to get a booster every few months and don’t you dare think about using anything else.
