(VIDEO) Md. Health Department uses false info to promote Covid-vaccination among children

Dated: January 30, 2022 by Sharyl Attkisson 5 Comments

The following is a news analysis and commentary by staff

The Maryland Department of Health recently launched the "Real Kids" media campaign using children aged 5-11 to promote and encourage parents to get their eligible children vaccinated against Covid-19.

In one of the videos entitled, "Want Us to Jump," the children make false claims about the vaccines and their effectiveness. Some of the false claims are outlined below with corrections.

CLAIM: "It's good to get the vaccine so you don't get sick."

CDC: The vaccines do not prevent infection. Many vaccinated people get ill with Covid; some of them seriously ill. Some die of Covid.

CLAIM: "The Covid shot helps protect me from Covid and my friends."

CDC: The vaccines do not prevent infection or transmission.

CLAIM: "You can basically like keep others from getting the virus."

CDC: The vaccines do not prevent transmission.

CLAIM: "It makes them safe, it makes all of us safe."

Scientists: The vaccines may or may not confer an element of safety, depending on the individual. Further, the vaccines have safety risks both known and unknown.

The CDC has long-confirmed that vaccinated and boosted people are routinely getting infected with Covid-19, and are infectious to others. In fact, CDC and other scientific groups have said the “viral load” can be as high in infected vaccinated people as it is in infected, unvaccinated people.

CDC says Covid-19 vaccinations reduce the odds of severe illness, hospitalization and death. However, CDC also says whether a person is vaccinated or not, their risk of severe illness is statistically very small. Among children, the risk is near zero.

The promotion of this video and these assertions raises serious questions about the health department's credibility and transparency. Americans should be able to receive reliable factual data from public health officials.

With ad content like this being promulgated, it is understandable why so many people of all ages continue to incorrectly believe that Covid mRNA vaccines prevent infection and transmission.

Though critics would rightly argue this ad is the epitome of "misinformation" it has been endorsed by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and his health secretary, and will be available for Marylanders and others to watch.

Much respect to you Sharyl, I read your website, tweets and watch your show from time to time because it provides a perspective that I do not find elsewhere. However, in this I find that the caveats are being treated as the overarching truths when it should be the opposite. I have rewritten the above:

CLAIM: "It's good to get the vaccine so you don't get sick."

CDC: The vaccines do not prevent infection. Most, almost 9 out of ten will not get sick, but yes many vaccinated people will get ill with Covid, some of them may even get seriously ill and sadly some die of Covid.

CLAIM: "The Covid shot helps protect me from Covid and my friends."

CDC: 9 out of 10 of your friends will not get sick but yes the vaccines do not prevent infection or transmission completely.

I think I have provided both sides of the perspective in a truthful manner and not avoided what the CDC has claimed. I am not sure of the exact stats on the transmissions post vaccine, but I think it is very high. Placing that alongside the caveats provides a rather wholesome picture and I believe people are intelligent enough to discern the nuance for themselves.

I think the vaccines overall - looking at the forest rather than the trees - have done their job as advertised. Again, I am not aware of the exact stats, but is it a couple of billions of people who are vaccinated? I also think that the results show that. The cases, hospitalizations and deaths have dramatically receded, especially among the elderly.

I understand that the communication from health authorities about the efficacy of vaccines has been muddled, but on the other hand just using the provisos to make a contrary point is also a disservice,

I hope you appreciate my thoughts.

The normal progression of a pandemic is to become less deadly. Considering that most places on earth are past their third or fourth waves already, it makes sense that hospitalizations and deaths would have decreased a lot, with or without vaccines in play. Many people have had Covid already and the omicron variant is less deadly to everyone, not just to the vaccinated. Also, in previous waves, many of the most vulnerable people, mainly elderly, have died. Therefore. it makes sense that the elderly who are left would be stronger and healthier and less likely to be hospitalized, again, with or without the vaccine.

Using kids to propagate outright lies that are going to damage and kill other kids, is just about the most immoral "messaging" I've ever seen. I hope one day these kids understand how they were manipulated, and turn around and sue the State of Maryland for every penny it has.

For those of us who've been examining the pandemic-propaganda disinformation blizzard for the last 2.5 years, this is more evidence to support the fact that governors in particular states are highly compromised. Maryland does not lead the way when it comes to authentic healthcare or disclosure re the stakeholders and the politics of pseudo-science. Now that Tony Fauci's corrupt legacy is finally in the limelight(although the MSM still treats him with kid gloves, for now at least) what will this indicate with regard to all the governors who were just following orders? It is clear to anyone who follows the money that too many governors and their cohorts work for Pharma, not the citizens of their states.
