(READ) Trump’s TRUTH Social debuts #1 in Apple App Store

Former President Donald Trump’s social media app TRUTH Social debuted at #1 in Apple’s App Store even though the iOS app will not be fully operational until sometime later in March.

Most users can download the app to their iPhone, set up their email and user name, but cannot access the platform just yet. Many people reported trouble trying to set up their initial accounts. A spokesman advised to “give it some time” and try again, indicating that they were having trouble dealing with the volume of prospective users.

Trump became interested in building his own social media platform after he was removed from Twitter, Facebook and YouTube for violating their “policies” following the Jan. 6 riots at the Capitol.

Last October in a press release, the Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG) stated it was their mission to create “a rival to the liberal media consortium and fight back against the Big Tech companies.”

The TRUTH Social tagline is “Follow the Truth” and the website states the following:

Truth Social is America’s “Big Tent” social media platform that encourages an open, free, and honest global conversation without discriminating against political ideology.

Congressman Devin Nunes (R-California) who left the House of Representatives to join TMTG is now serving as the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), while Former President Trump serves as the Chairman of the company.
