(READ) HHS pays media to advertise Covid-19 vaccines while they provide positive news coverage

Dated: March 13, 2022 by Sharyl Attkisson 1 Comment

Through a Freedom of Information Act request, The Blaze has uncovered that the Department of Human an Health Services (HHS) bought advertising from major media outlets --- ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, the New York Post, the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, BuzzFeed News, and Newsmax--- plus local television stations and newspapers to promote the Covid-19 vaccines to viewers.

This was done as the news organizations consistently provided what is reported to be mostly positive coverage about Covid-19 vaccines efficacy and safety, and signaling what the public should view as a conflict of interest.

Numerous vaccine safety issues were widely brushed off by the media outlets, even though the issues are scientifically documented and impact millions of people.

According to The Blaze, the Biden administration paid for advertisements on hundreds of news platforms, as part of its "COVID-19 Public Education Campaign": a "comprehensive media campaign" to "educate people about the importance of vaccination and basic prevention measures to prevent COVID-19 and protect public health."

The Blaze reports that the news outlets defended themselves by explaining that they have firewall policies in place, under which the advertising department and newsroom are independent of each other.

Washington Post Vice President of Communications, Shani George told The Blaze in a statement:

"Advertisers pay for space to share their messages, as was the case here, and those ads are clearly labeled as such. The newsroom is completely independent from the advertising department."

Despite the intense marketing campaign, public opinion polls show that Americans have mixed views on the vaccines that evolved as 2021 progressed.

  • According to a March 2021 Rasmussen Reports poll, 67% of likely voters were confident in the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine.
  • But by December, 54% of likely voters were concerned about the potential of harmful side effects from the vaccine.

By September 2021, more than 500,000 adverse events were reported in the federal Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) after receiving Covid-19 vaccines.

Currently there are more than 1,000,000 adverse events reported to VAERS for Covid-19 vaccines.

It tells you how poorly the vaccines have performed that perhaps the most massive disinformation marketing campaign in history failed to convince the American people in a decisive way.
