(POLL) Both Trump and DeSantis beat Biden in hypothetical 2024 face-off

Dated: May 14, 2022 by Sharyl Attkisson 1 Comment

  • Trump beats Biden 50%-36%
  • DeSantis beats Biden 46%-35%

A majority of voters say they think President Joe Biden shouldn’t seek reelection in 2024.

If a re-match occurs with former President Donald Trump, Biden loses by double-digit margins.

That's according to a survey by Rasmussen Reports and the Heartland Institute.

The joint survey found that 61% of likely US voters say Biden should not run for a second term as president in 2024.

But 28% say Biden should seek reelection.

Another 11% say they are not sure.

If the 2024 presidential election were held today and Biden and Trump faced off again, 50% say they would vote for Trump while 36% would vote for Biden.

If Florida Governor Ron DeSantis were Biden’s 2024 Republican opponent in a presidential race held today, 46% said they would vote for DeSantis while 35% say they would vote for Biden.

Another 11% say they would vote for someone else.

According to the Heartland Institute:

While 64% of black voters said they have a favorable opinion of Biden, only 39% want him to run for re-election. Among Hispanics, just 43% have a favorable opinion and only 31% want him to run in the 2024 presidential election. Women voters – a key to Biden’s 2020 victory – have soured on the president, with only 26% wanting him to run again."
