(READ) Republican bill defends service members against ‘coercive’ Covid-19 vaccine policies

Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin), and 12 other Republicans have introduced a bill designed to protect military service members from punishment for declining the Covid-19 vaccine.

The Allowing Military Exemptions, Recognizing Individual Concerns About New Shots (AMERICANS) Act of 2022 is designed to counter the Biden administration’s efforts to coerce and punish Armed Forces personnel who do not want or need the vaccination, which has proven largely ineffective at preventing infection, transmission or illness from Covid. The bill also includes additional accountability measures to increase transparency.

It is absolutely unacceptable that the Biden administration is trying to coerce our men and women in uniform to violate their conscience and religious beliefs, let alone on an issue as polarizing as the Covid-19 vaccine. The AMERICANS Act will ensure that these and similar efforts to politicize our military on this issue are blocked.” Cruz said in a statement regarding the bill.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas)

This bill would require the Secretary of Defense to do the following:

  • Make every effort to retain unvaccinated service members
  • Strengthen language to ensure service members receive discharge classifications commensurate with their record of service
  • Require the Department of Defense (DoD) to report the number and type of Covid-19 vaccine religious exemptions that have been denied
  • Create an exemption from Covid-19 vaccine requirements for service members with natural immunity

The act would also protect service academy students and Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) members in the same way.

  1. What part of experimental vaccine don’t they understand. Experiments cannot be used with out informed consent which hasn’t been given to the service members per the Nuremberg Code. Apparently they haven’t learned their lesson with the Tuskegee experiments performed on black men.

  2. When the GOP had complete control they hobbled Trump and did NOTHING. When GOP is not in control the fake conservatives introduce bills that have ZERO chance but give blind idiots a feeling of being represented. Time for the GOP to fold their tent up. This deplorable will never vote GOP again in this lifetime. Let the TRAIN CRASH!

  3. Great idea, but still a useless gesture. First, it has no chance of passage. Second, even if it did pass Biden would veto it. Third, if enacted those “exempt” people would have targets on their backs. Anyone who has ever been in the military knows that vindictive commanders can discharge anyone they choose for any reason, real or contrived. Finally, all patriots (vaxxed or not) need to exit the service ASAP. The federal government is now a full-fledged agent of evil, and the military is no exception.

Fully agree. The military is being used and abused, both the ones that complied with the illegal forcing of the vaccines, as those that opposed.

  5. It’s time to separate the sheep from the goats when supporting to the “Republican” Party. To do that, contributing to individual campaigns may be the best course of action. MTG, Rand Paul, Matt Gaetz, Senator Ron Johnson (he exposed the DOD vaccine data), and Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana (the guy is a National Treasure) will continue to get my support as well as the SUPER MAGA Candidates. I am beyond upset with Mitch McConnell! He is one footstep behind Liz Cheney! Those are the type of Republicans that gave us Obama.
