The following is an excerpt from JusttheNews.com
Kept by congressional Democrats from putting on a defense, former President Donald Trump demanded Thursday that television networks airing the Jan. 6 committee hearings provide him equal time to present his side.
“I DEMAND EQUAL TIME!!!” Trump said in a midday statement posted on his Truth Social media site, just before the Democrat-led panel began its third, televised hearing on the Capitol riots.
“The Fake News Networks are perpetuating lies, falsehoods, and Russia, Russia, Russia-type disinformation (same sick people, here we go again!) by allowing the low rated but nevertheless one sided and slanderous Unselect Committee hearings to go endlessly and aimlessly on (and on and on!),” the 45th president also said.
He also said: “I am hereby demanding EQUAL TIME to spell out the massive Voter Fraud & Dem Security Breach!”

I was wondering when we might get a story about the January 6th Commission hearings in this newsletter. And here is the first one. But instead of getting information about the damning testimony from many of Trump’s closest advisors about his role in promoting the insurrection and false story of election fraud, we are only told that Trump wants “equal time”, a blatant attempt to paint Trump as victim. Curious (OK – not that curious).
It’s more than a little disingenuous to complain about not being allowed to tell “the other side of the story” when so many who might have information in that regard have refused to testify. They were given a chance and declined. Last night, we were shown Eastman’s repeated invocation of the Fifth Amendment (which he is perfectly entitled to do) when asked questions about the behind-the-scenes machinations in the Trump White House. Here was a perfect opportunity to tell the other side. But he decided not to.
And it’s also more than a little misleading to pretend that the hearings have ignored Trump’s claims. Indeed examining and debunking those claims have been the central theme of the last two hearings. We have heard multiple members of Trump’s inner circle testify to the claims made by Trump on election fraud and Pence’s right to decide which electoral votes to count. And we have heard those same people testify that they told Trump that it was all “nonsense” (or “BS” or “nutty” or “crazy” or “are you out of your effing mind”). It’s hard to claim something was ignored when it was pretty much front-and-center the whole time.
And does anyone think for a nanosecond that Trump would have any difficulty getting his side of the story out – if he had anything worthwhile to say? Fox News, OAN, Newsmax, and this newsletter (which already prints verbatim Trump’s pronouncements) would fall all over themselves to broadcast Trump’s story. But you have to ask yourself: if he had a credible story to tell, wouldn’t we have heard it by now?
There’s a reason that these hearings appear one-sided. And that is because there is only one side. There’s no other side to tell. We all know what happened. Trump’s supporters made up stories about election fraud (willingly abetted by the right-wing media) and he latched onto them because his ego won’t let him admit defeat. These were all investigated ad nauseam and found to be completely baseless. But he wouldn’t (and won’t) let it go. That resulted in January 6. It’s no more complicated than that. The rest is just filling in the blanks.
Of course, anyone is free to believe differently. All that is required is to bring some evidence.
