(POLL) Should you get your birthday off work?

When asked, “Are people automatically entitled to their birthday off work…paid?” 57% said, “No way!”

That’s according to the latest unscientific poll of 855 people at SharylAttkisson.com.

Forty percent (40%) said the decision should ultimately be left “up to the boss.”

Three percent (3%) said workers should “absolutely” be given a paid day off on their special day.

  1. It’s all about productivity. Every national day off impacts GDP. However, time off can also be beneficial. And it can be a reward for good work. Thats why it should be left up to the boss.

  2. Many employers give vacation time or personal leave time. My former employer gave us a floating holiday. Some employees chose to use that day for their birthday. I chose to work on my birthday. My department usually celebrated birthdays anyway with some sort of cake or dessert. So, I guess my vote would be with the “Let the boss decide”.
