A new third US political party launching Sept. 24

Dated: July 28, 2022 by Sharyl Attkisson 15 Comments

The following is an excerpt from Reuters.

Dozens of former Republican and Democratic officials announced on Wednesday a new national political third party to appeal to millions of voters they say are dismayed with what they see as America's dysfunctional two-party system.

The new party, called Forward and whose creation was first reported by Reuters, will initially be co-chaired by former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang and Christine Todd Whitman, the former Republican governor of New Jersey.

They hope the party will become a viable alternative to the Republican and Democratic parties that dominate U.S. politics, founding members told Reuters.

Party leaders will hold a series of events in two dozen cities this autumn to roll out its platform and attract support. They will host an official launch in Houston on Sept. 24 and the party's first national convention in a major U.S. city next summer.

The new party is being formed by a merger of three political groups that have emerged in recent years as a reaction to America's increasingly polarized and gridlocked political system.

The leaders cited a Gallup poll last year showing a record two-thirds of Americans believe a third party is needed.

Two pillars of the new party's platform are to "reinvigorate a fair, flourishing economy" and to "give Americans more choices in elections, more confidence in a government that works, and more say in our future."

The party, which is centrist, has no specific policies yet. It will say at its Thursday launch: "How will we solve the big issues facing America? Not Left. Not Right. Forward."

    Ah yes.
Yang at the heard. One of the most lefty liberal humans in the USA.
I'm sure Whitman is a RINO and will gush all the right words to gain a following.
All we can hope for is that MAGA grows and seeps into the hearts of the middle-of-the-road voters.
I pray that God will intervene.
Else the nation we have know as the most benevolent and powerful nation on earth will fade way.

The establishment insiders. They will be as left wing as the Democrats.

Third parties can never win POTUS due to the need for 270 Electoral College votes. There are 538 total electoral votes. Split three ways, thatโ€™s 179 votes for each candidate.

Normally a runoff is done between the two highest, when someone doesn't have enough.

LOL, I would love a third party but if Andrew Yang's politics are going to be the platform of this one, then no thanks.

The two main parties have a lot of money and if there is a potential threat to a position they go to court and have the third party candidate thrown off the ballot. The only position the two main parties let the third party candidates win is the Office of Dog Catcher.

The two founders, alone, make it a non-starter.

Does anyone remember Ross Perot and what he did as the 3rd party candidate so many years ago? What we need is integrity in elections, Term Limits and most importantly limits on donations towards election campaigns - each candidates has flat total amount to utilize! Too much corruption in the election process. And legal citizenship identification to be qualified to vote. Period!

All 3rd parties do is steal the votes from a True Patriot, and give the office to an anti-American liberal!!!!

Andrew Yang and Christine Todd Whitman? A confirmed leftist and a left leaning RINO. . There is no way these two reprobates are going to lead a thing let alone the country.

A third party will never be a viable option unless National election move to a ranked voting system.

I'm guessing this is an attempt to split the Republican vote and hand elections to the Democrats.
