Voters overwhelmingly oppose sexually explicit books in public school libraries, and believe schools have an obligation to inform parents what their children are being taught.
This is according to the latest Rasmussen Reports and Capitol Resource Institute poll.
The survey found that 89% of likely U.S. voters think it is important that public schools fully inform parents about what is being taught to their children in classrooms, including 70% who say it is “very important.”
Sixty-nine percent (69%) of voters believe books containing explicit sexual depictions of sex acts, including homosexual sex, should not be present in public high school libraries.
The majority opposed to sexually explicit books in public school libraries rises to 79% for middle schools and 85% for elementary schools.
“There is no such thing as ‘age-appropriate’ for obscenity and pornography in public school libraries,” said Karen England, president of the California-based Capitol Resource Institute (CRI).
“If the public knew how many books containing explicit sexual depictions of sex acts were in their public school libraries they would be pulling their children out of school immediately.”

“Obscene” is subjective and has been used to justify violating the First Amendment.
Consider that nude paintings and sculptures and gods doing the nasty with animals were found in Pompeii’s treasure trove of artifacts. Erotic art which was a central part of everyday life as it adorned the houses of local citizens. These artifacts should be available to be studied, but prudish scholars hid them for 200 years.
Today, it’s not nude statues conservatives want to censor: it’s text on paper. Consider Sherman Alexie’s wildly popular young adult novel “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian.” It’s one of the most censored books because it talks about things related to puberty that every teen experiences. It portrays the hars–and sometimes violent–reality of life on Indian reservations.
Look, there are several solutions if you don’t want your children seeing or reading something you consider to be “obscene”:
1. Talk to your kids about it and set boundaries for what you feel is acceptable for them to see/read.
2. If you don’t trust your child, tell your school’s librarian that you want a list of the books your kid has checked out. See something you don’t like? Have it returned.
3. If the government school stonewalles you, remove your children from the school and homeschool or. enroll them in a religious school. (However, have you read the Bible? It’s full of obscenity!)
But, stop with the censorship and stop undermining the FIRST AMENDMENT!

I have seen them and they have no business in children sections in the library . There is no banning of the books it needs to be removed from children sections. Children need to keep their innocence as long as possible. Your rants are unwarranted

There are no specific books listed in the article. If you don’t want your child reading works of art and literature that depict sexual acts, then forbid them from doing so. But leave the rest of us alone and stop undermining freedom of speech and the first amendment because you are a prude and want to control others.

No obscene books in the kids’ libraries? So much for political science and the Ukraine mess. Both Zelensky and Biden have self-indulged in lewd and sadomasochistic behavior for the cameras. I keep mine in a safe place. My future contacts would never believe. My kids and grandkids will not see them.
This is clearly obscene with no literary value for minors ate school. Even youtube took it down for violating sex and nudity policy.
