(POLL) Voters don’t like late election results

With the balance of power in Congress still undecided, voters clearly dislike delayed reporting of election results.

That’s according to the latest Rasmussen Reports poll.

The national survey finds that 65% of likely U.S. voters agree that many states take too long to count the votes and report results on Election Night, including 37% who “strongly agree.”

Just 28% disagree, with 13% who “strongly disagree.”

Several key races across the country remained undecided, with the majority in both the U.S. House and Senate at stake.

Forty-five percent (45%) of voters say when states take a long time to report election results, it makes them less confident that the election is fair.

Just 25% say late results make them more confident that the election is fair, while 27% say delayed results don’t make much difference in their confidence.

Majorities of every political category – 74% of Republicans, 50% of Democrats and 52% of unaffiliated voters – think election laws should be reformed to require states to report election results in a more timely manner.

  1. Can someone tell me how elections in the 19th century have results literally overnight and in the 21st century with all this “wonderful” technology it takes weeks and months for results?

Our election system wreaks of fraud on so many levels. Which in reality, mirrors our political system. We rate lower in election integrity than Uruguay, Chile, Costa Rica and host of other countries. You can’t even get into a polling place in the aforementioned countries without an I D let alone vote. We are witnessing the end of our republic.

    1. Well said. A good argument for going back to hand counted paper ballots and doing away with the machines altogether. NO mail-in balloting except in the case of military deployment or disability.
Why has election day now become election week(s)? It defies all sense of fairness, propriety, and integrity in our elections.

  2. I don’t know about everyone else but, I’m sick of these so called pollsters, they just make stuff up, they have been so wrong for so many election cycles I don’t understand how they can still be relevant and don’t understand why people still listen to them. The pollsters remind me of Biden, same credibility.

    1. Then again, they may be ‘right on’ but there is chicanery going on in the tabulation and /or the voting machines……just a thought….

  3. “Stuff Happens” After 35 years in systems development, I understand that uncontrollable stuff happens. I would rather have a delayed accurate count, rather than a corrupted count. The citizens of the states where there is lax controls will reap their indifference. The issue here is what about the citizens of other states that want a true vote for national representation.
Venezuela is a good example where “democracy” was abused by those that gained by its flaws. The voting flaws of uncontrolled voting requirements changed the country that used to be self sufficient is now a good example of what can go wrong.
States with lax controls on who votes and how the votes are verified are doomed. I do not like the Fed involved in states rights, but there has to be some oversight on an independent level and long jailtime penalties for those involved in vote tampering.

  4. It must be cleaned up. In the case of Arizona, they had problems in 2020, and have had two years to get it right, and did not.
If electronic systems must be used, there must be backup systems in place, and the data must be able to be accessed and inspected for abnormalities.
There are laws prohibiting electioneering at polling places that are ignored.
If mail-in balloting is a gotta-have, then there should be a cutoff date to allow enough time for those ballots to make it through the mail and be counted on Election Day.
No reason why we cannot have results within two days.
