The man who allegedly attacked Paul Pelosi, husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), is in the country illegally and could ultimately be deported, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

A Homeland Security spokesman issued a statement late last week saying that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged an “immigration detainer” on suspect David DePape Tuesday. DePape faces multiple federal and state charges after an assault on Pelosi with a hammer.

The spokesman said records show DePape, a Canadian national, entered the US as a temporary visitor in March 2008. He entered at the San Ysidro point of entry on the border between California and Mexico.

Admissible Canadian travelers who are visiting the US for business or pleasure usually do not need to obtain a visa, but they are generally admitted for six months.

ICE places a detainer on someone if they’ve been arrested on criminal charges and the agency has probable cause to believe they can be deported, the spokesperson said.

The detainer serves as a request for the law enforcement agency that is holding the suspect to notify the federal agency before releasing them from custody, so ICE can take them into their custody.

In sanctuary cities and states, officials have refused to provide the notification, releasing convicted criminals who are illegal immigrants into the US where they frequently go on to commit more crimes.

DePape is facing federal charges of assault and attempted kidnapping, as well as state charges including attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and threatening the life or serious bodily harm of a public official.

The details of the attack remain murky, as officials have changed their reporting, kept some details hidden. It’s been reported that the Capitol Police had surveillance cameras recording the whole incident but didn’t notice the alleged break-in.

In August, Pelosi pleaded guilty to DUI and was sentenced to five days in jail. As part of his plea deal, a more serious charge, driving with a .08% blood alcohol level or higher causing injury , was dismissed.

  1. It was reported he was a “registered Democrat” since 2019 before which he was a member of the “Green Party”.

How does an illegal alien become a registered Democrat?

    1. If true, how does a man who registered as a Democrat as recently as 2019, and who has a long history of involvement in the left-wing counterculture, suddenly become a MAGA-inspired terrorist, as we are being told he was (with little or no evidence)?

So many things about this story don’t make any sense, and the story keeps changing.

      1. Anytime they refuse to release information that in any other case would be released, there are red flags all over the place.

  2. AND THAT IS CALLED KARMA= FOR DEMOCRATES OPEN BORDERS AND THERE WILL BE A LOT MORE OF THIS AND I HOPE IT IS THEM THAT ARE RESPONCABLE

  3. “ICE places a detainer on someone if they’ve been arrested on criminal charges and the agency has probable cause to believe they can be deported…in sanctuary cities and states, officials have refused to provide the notification, releasing convicted criminals who are illegal immigrants into the US where they frequently go on to commit more crimes.”

Conclusion: We will deport illegal immigrants if they have committed a crime against the Ruling Elite and their friends and families, but if a crime is committed against the peasants, the perp will be released back into society.

  4. My guess is DePape will be released to sanctuary city without notifying ICE. He will then be disappeared. End of story.

  5. Things that don’t add up about this case:

    1. Why was security so light at the home of the Speaker of the House at a time when the left has been warning of pre-election violence and Pelosi has claimed to have received numerous death threats?
    2. Were there – or were there not – three people in the house? If three, who was the third person?
    3. Were Pelosi and Depape both in their underwear – as first reported – when police arrived, or were they not? How could there be any confusion on this obvious point?
    4. Who answered the door for police – Pelosi, or a third person?
    5. How could Pelosi simultaneously call Depape a “stranger” and a “friend”?
    6. Was Pelosi’s 911 call a “wellness” call – as first reported – or a report of a break-in?
    7. If Depape had made threatening remarks about Nancy Pelosi (as police claimed he confessed to doing), why did Pelosi – when police arrived – tell the police that he was safe, and go back in the house where the attack occurred (as police also claimed)? Why did NBC retract its report of this latter transaction? Did someone in law enforcement ask or demand that they retract it?
    8. Why does the glass door/window at the Pelosi residence appear to have been broken from the inside?
    9. DC police had been sent to San Francisco specifically to protect Pelosi’s home and office – where were they the night of the attack?
    10. Why did neighbors report hearing no alarm go off?
    11. Why did Pelosi not lock himself in the bathroom when he made his 911 call? Why did Depape let him do it in the first place?
    12. How did the elderly Pelosi make such a quick recovery and return home less than a week after reportedly receiving a broken skull and undergoing brain surgery?
    13. Depape reportedly told police that he wanted to ask Nancy Pelosi to tell him the truth. The truth about what?
    14. How did a lifelong member of the leftist counterculture suddenly become a violent Trump supporter? What is the evidence that he had become a Trump supporter?
    15. Has Depape undergone a mental evaluation, or has one been scheduled? If not, why not? Multiple reports from people who knew him say he had become delusional as far back as 2013.
