Why Trump is attacking DeSantis

A social media post from Donald Trump this past week explains why he is on the attack against popular Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, whom Trump has nicknamed “Ron DeSanctimonious.”

After the major DeSantis re-election victory Tuesday, Trump called DeSantis “an average REPUBLICAN Governor with great Public Relations.”

On Trump’s social media platform Truth Social, he implied that he had tossed DeSantis a lifeline in his race for governor in 2017, and– in return– expected DeSantis to support Trump in 2024. When DeSantis did not answer the question of whether he, DeSantis, would be running for president in 2024, Trump took it as an affront.

The following is the entire social media post by Trump:

NewsCorp, which is Fox, the Wall Street Journal, and the no longer great New York Post (bring back Col!), is all in for Governor Ron DeSanctimonious, an average REPUBLICAN Governor with great Public Relations, who didn’t have to close up his State, but did, unlike other Republican Governors, whose overall numbers for a Republican, were just average—middle of the pack—including COVID, and who has the advantage of SUNSHINE, where people from badly run States up North would go no matter who the Governor was, just like I did!

Ron came to me in desperate shape in 2017—he was politically dead, losing in a landslide to a very good Agriculture Commissioner, Adam Putnam, who was loaded up with cash and great poll numbers. Ron had low approval, bad polls, and no money, but he said that if I would Endorse him, he could win. I didn’t know Adam so I said, “Let’s give it a shot, Ron.” When I Endorsed him, it was as though, to use a bad term, a nuclear weapon went off. Years later, they were the exact words that Adam Putnam used in describing Ron’s Endorsement. He said, “I went from having it made, with no competition, to immediately getting absolutely clobbered after your Endorsement.” I then got Ron by the “Star” of the Democrat Party, Andrew Gillum (who was later revealed to be a “Crack Head”), by having two massive Rallies with tens of thousands of people at each one. I also fixed his campaign, which had completely fallen apart. I was all in for Ron, and he beat Gillum, but after the Race, when votes were being stolen by the corrupt Election process in Broward County, and Ron was going down ten thousand votes a day, along with now-Senator Rick Scott, I sent in the FBI and the U.S. Attorneys, and the ballot theft immediately ended, just prior to them running out of the votes necessary to win. I stopped his Election from being stolen…

And now, Ron DeSanctimonious is playing games! The Fake News asks him if he’s going to run if President Trump runs, and he says, “I’m only focused on the Governor’s race, I’m not looking into the future.” Well, in terms of loyalty and class, that’s really not the right answer.

This is just like 2015 and 2016, a Media Assault (Collusion!), when Fox News fought me to the end until I won, and then they couldn’t have been nicer or more supportive. The Wall Street Journal loved Low Energy Jeb Bush, and a succession of other people as they rapidly disappeared from sight, finally falling in line with me after I easily knocked them out, one by one. We’re in exactly the same position now. They will keep coming after us, MAGA, but ultimately, we will win. Put America First and, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

  1. Well hopefully, Trump does not run again. Otherwise we are stuck again with a Dem. He has insulted, pushed and created enemies even from those that supported him. All for ego. Time to move on to something new.

  2. Sharyl – We all know Trump has a tender ego; but, it doesn’t explain his attack on DeSantis. From what I’ve seen about Trump, he, usually, has very good reasons for his antics/chess moves. I love DeSantis and what he stands for; so, there’s no reason for me to take Trump’s rhetoric at face value. I can make up my own mind.

  3. So, If I help homeless people or help people with donation to cancer research or assist a family that is about to lose their home with Mortgage $$. Should I have done so expecting them to pay me back or to oblige me at a later time…. Trump just cant help himself. Voted for him twice now just sick of his nonesense. Their is no excuse for his tantrums.

  4. He is correct. The rinos and democrats will push DeSantis only to dethrone Donald Trump. They hate his independence from them and the established mentality that much. If DeSantis actually falls for this betrayal and invokes disloyalty by pretending he is saving us from Trump it will reveal something ugly in him. He is just a tool. He will never win, because they won’t let him and we will have missed a chance of a lifetime to right the ship.

  5. Here’s an intriguing thought, voiced by a podcaster: This keeps them in the news, talking about who did the greatest job. I don’t think it’s real; I think it’s another genius move by Trump. The news media is DYING to talk about Trump; they need him desperately, and they are getting fed.

    1. Nah, Gabbard is not a conservative. She is a laissez faire liberal libertarian whose only alignment with Republicans is she doesn’t like Biden’s involvement in Ukraine so… the enemy of my enemy sort of stuff.

  6. I pray he does not run and that he gets help with his ego. He did a lot to help the R’s, but also enough to hurt to just find at least one humble bone in his body!

  7. Trump needs to bow out and let the young men and women build a new political party to defeat the Democrat/Socialist/Communist Party in 2024. He can serve best as a contra-Soros, financially backing the candidates who will offer a definitive plan and goals to address the needs of most Americans. We need to get rid of the ancient RINO dinosaurs who have believe they deserve to be in office. Desantis/Scott 2024.

    1. so agree, DS is the only one ready and i dont think he will run, the party is splitting fast and that would just enlarge it. I cant see them together 2 egos there. People are tired of Trumps antics now he should take a look in the mirror which has been suggested to him. He would see it as a failure but that isnt so. He will be indicted and has to much baggage going in this time. I dont think those people would have a issue if he is chosen for a Cabinet postition

  8. Not all Trump backed candidates lost. He called Marco Rubio, ‘Little Marco.”‘ Backed him for reelection to the Senate and had a rally with him the day before the election. He backed New York candidate for Governor Lee Zeldin. Although Zeldin lost he had coat tails enough to get 4 NY congressional seats to flip to Republican including defeating DCCC chairman, Democrat Sean “Let them eat Chef Boyardee ” Maloney. Helping to possibly take the House of Representatives back.

  9. Trump is done… he just doesn’t believe it. DeSantis – or another genx conservative is the future of GOP, not an 80 year old who voted D most of his life, got in because “anyone but Hillary” and now thinks he is the GOP. I hate RINOS but Trump is a big talker who didn’t accomplish most of the things that got him elected. He also energizes more democrats to vote against him than republicans to vote for him… let him enjoy retirement… not loose 2022 for GOP

  10. I feel anti-Trump people (this includes those who voted for him before) need to remember just how much he did for this country in his 4-year term in office. Trump knows there is a large, nefarious swamp in DC and is the only real ‘non-politician’ who can fish more of them out. Trump, even more so than Ted Cruz (and I am Cruz’s BIGGEST fan) or DeSantis, is the only one who has the drive and perseverance to go after these swamp creatures. Everyone else are merely politicians with no desire to clear out the DC swamp. We need to stop nit-picking at every comment he makes and look at the bigger picture (the future). How about this? Trump/DeSantis 2024!! These two together can get a republican win. If a democrat wins in 2024, then even the people who claim there was no 2020 election corruption have to stop and think…

  11. Everyone commenting on this article saying Trump needs to move on is doing exactly what the RINO’s want them to do and that is split the party. It’s not just the Democrats who want Trump gone, it’s also the RINO’s. There aren’t really 2 major political parties in this country, they have just led us to believe there are.
So ask yourself this question: Why do all of them want Trump gone? I’ll tell you why. Because these f’ers have been selling out our country for decades. They have committed treason and possibly worse and they need to be held accountable. We would never know about any of it had Trump not given up his cushy life and run for president. We should all be kissing his feet and I am going to support Trump until he says he is done.

    1. I’m with you. Trump has a reason for everything he does. Most RINO’s are obvious but Trump has always done his best to flush out every single one so we can see them too. I am with him til he says otherwise.

    2. You are ? correct!
Actions speak louder than words…watch his genius at work!!
He is now rooting out the alligators from the swamp, separating the globalists from the patriots. The globalists RINOs are afraid of Trump & want to skip over him for president so he doesn’t uncover their treasonous sins. The Lincoln Project & other traitors are trying to jumpstart a PAC to get DeSantis to run. Their actions are giving them away. He is exposing them. Just see who endorses DeSantis & you have your traitors. globalists & those who have used their Congressional seat to sell out the taxpayers. Pull up a seat & get out your scorecard. This is a clever move where the guilty might as well be confessing as their actions are giving themselves away. Never interrupt the enemy while they are destroying themselves! Just sit back & watch!

  12. I loved Trump’s legacy that has been knocked down by the irreverent mob like our founding father’s statues. The most difficult moment was when Jesus asked, ‘let this cup pass from me if it be the will of the Father’? I see President Trump as a reflection of my own battle within and without as I watch him navigate his life under the public scrutiny of the evil played out against him. How do we expect to fight evil and win in the world? Even the most famous example with exemplary mastery over time and space was hung on a cross! I believe we can strive to act out the best example we are able to muster on the stage of life and let the chips fall where they may and hope the history books reflect the truth of our deeds.

  13. If you are interested in a conservative perspective, see ‘theconservativetreehouse.com’. This individual has in-depth facts.
DeSantis is the RINO pic by Bush Inc. (The same group that recommended Bill Barr.)

Trump does have ego issues, but he has America first. How will he treat the ‘lying media’? He has made some really bad decisions about trusted personnel. If he cannot fix that, we will be no better off.
If AZ, GA, PA, NV, MI, WI cannot get the legal ballot counting issues fixed, this is all mute.

    1. I live in Florida. What you say about DeSantis is not reflected in his actions. Because of Ron, Florida has remained a free state. He’s banned lockdowns, mandatory masks, and forced vaccines. It’s your choice if you want to do either of those things. Can’t lose your job for refusing the death jab. Hospitals and nursing homes are FORBIDDEN from keeping family members from dying loved ones. He said NO to proof that you’ve been vaccinated. He has knocked Disney down quite a few pegs, putting that company of pedophiles in its place. He has banned CRT and the sexualization of our children in these schools. He supports parents and their right to have a say in their children’s education. Our businesses, schools, and restaurants remained open. We are doing great here. Best governor in the universe. RINO? I think not.

  14. Thank you for saving me the time and expressing my thoughts. I love DeSantis and he has done a great job. I think he would be easily the top pick for 2028 . . . after Trump bulldozes the swamp. It is so hopelessly corrupt right now, including the so-called federal health agencies, that it will take a ruthless bully who cannot be intimidated to take down all these swamp creatures, many IMO are criminals. And the crimes are so numerous they know a legitimate law enforcement WH would threaten their freedom. Many including the FBI and DOJ, have committed so many crimes they are painted into a corner. They are already all-in. A real DOJ and FBI head, and a President with the backbone to stand up to them will likely see many criminal prosecutions. I can’t see DeSantis or any politician that those cajones. Further Trump is at the end of his life. He loves this country and will go all-in to take down the bad guys, including risking himself. No one else do I see with that type of “Rocky” attitude. Remember his line “If he gets in the ring with me he better be prepared to die, cause I am.”

  15. DeSantis has a bright future IF he doesn’t succumb to the GOP establishment influence and continues to PERFORM as a conservative gocvernor with principle.

The GOP has yet to see or accept who and what Donald Trump is and stands for. He doesn’t play their games. No one relishes infighting, but Trump has been getting pummeled 24/7 for going-on 7 years by both enemy and his own Party & excuse his instincts to defend himself.

How he’s still sane and standing is a miracle neither Ron DeSantis nor any other human being could have survived.

Like him or not, when you stand on principle, you’re on solid rock, no matter the outcome.

  16. Seems to be a lot of fair weather friends on here. The RINO/Establishment mob is pushing for DeSantis for two reasons: 1) to get rid of Trump and 2) they think they can control DeSantis so they’ll be able to continue as usual.
