(POLL) Many voters think amnesty would make immigration problem worse

Congress is reportedly considering an amnesty for illegal immigrants, but a plurality of voters believe this would only worsen the current border crisis.

That’s according to the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey.

The poll finds that 46% of likely U.S. voters think that giving amnesty to the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants living in the United States would make the illegal immigration problem worse.

Only 23% believe amnesty would make the problem better, while 20% say it wouldn’t make much difference and another 10% are not sure.

Advocates of amnesty are reported to be trying to push a bill through Congress during the “lame duck” session before Republicans take over the House of Representatives.
