(READ) Republicans: protect American sovereignty against the World Health Organization

Senate Republicans are warning the Biden Administration that they will oppose any attempt to adhere to an emerging World Health Organization (WHO) treaty on how to respond to future pandemics, unless that treaty first wins Senate approval.

Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee) and Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin) along with 12 other GOP Senators have introduced the No WHO Pandemic Preparedness Treaty Without Senate Approval Act.

The legislation comes as the WHO continues to move the pandemic treaty process forward and is expected to formally present a draft to member states later this month.

The resolution reflects Republican worries that President Biden will look to adopt treaty obligations without first asking the Senate, as they say is required, and that the treaty itself is being negotiated in a way that may benefit China at the expense of the US.

Americans remain skeptical of continuing infringements on personal liberties and freedoms after being subjected to the government’s misguided and sometimes harmful Covid-19 policies, including mask mandates, vaccine mandates, and prolonged closures of schools and businesses.

The Senators say the proposed legislation would provide more transparency in WHO agreements and a constitutional check on the administration.

The World Health Organization is a puppet for the Chinese Communist Party. Their mismanagement of the Covid-19 pandemic made it abundantly clear they should never have a say over America’s response to any crisis. It’s time for President Biden to put the rights of the American people ahead of the corrupt public health ‘experts’ who are only interested in lining their pockets and amplifying Xi Jinping’s propaganda.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee)

The WHO, along with our federal health agencies, failed miserably in their response to Covid-19. This failure should not be rewarded with a new international treaty that would increase the WHO’s power at the expense of American sovereignty. I’m proud to reintroduce this legislation to hold the WHO accountable for their failures and increase transparency for the American people. The sovereignty of the United States is not negotiable.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Iowa)

  1. good on them (though Blackburn’s China-bashing is shortsighted and too much let’s-have-a whipping-boy-du-jour).

  2. Thank you, Sharyl, for writing about this. Hope this gets done. Who makes the decisions for us and based on what system of ethics? People should directly read the documents and statements from the WHO. Not sure what the AP has been reading… It is clear that these people at the WHO believe that they know what is best for all of the countries and all of the peoples of the world. But is that grounded in fact? Policies designed to create equity always seem to fail because they establish false winners and losers. And we do live in a VERY dangerous world with various entities jockeying for power. If the unrealistic marriage between the US elites and Chinese CCP that we have all followed along with goes through a divorce, the kids will get (or will be made to get) really angry. The US certainly has been doing things to shoot ourselves in the feet on the world stage. It is the little people that will lose out in the end anyway if we all don’t pay attention. Thank you, too, for your stories about Chinese American people in this country who have no more to do with the CCP than our average citizen does with the upper echelons of our government.

  3. This article and the World Health organization ? You know the Best thing in History all countries could do in World Health is not to De-Regulate over Fishing in our Oceans but to use that as a New Economic Futures tool to profit all countries. ( Tell us more ? ) Example; Lets take the country Japan there Sea Fishing industry does not make much money in Fishing Regulations and or fishing off seasons , So if the World adopted a New Economic standard by letting the Worlfs Fishing industry make more money in off seasons and times by having them also create a Fish Hatcheries industry to replenish Fish in our Oceans .This allows more economics for all countries Fishing industries E = ( X~Genesis New swelling of pride to our Ocean’s ) Markets and better Feeds the Worlds Population needs ? A Win Win for all countries economics and Futures ???
