(READ) NIH stonewalls on Covid-19 origins and risky research

House Republicans say federal health agency officials are stonewalling when it comes to turning over public information regarding Covid origins.

House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Washington), Health Subcommittee Chair Brett Guthrie (R-Kentucky), and Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chair Morgan Griffith (R-Viriginia) have sent two letters to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) following up on the NIH’s lack of response to requests for information and documents.

On May 1, the Republicans sent a letter to the Acting Director of NIH, Dr. Lawrence Tabak, regarding NIH’s oversight of potential risky research activities such as virus mutation or manipulation in experiments involving Covid-19.

According to the Republicans:

By failing to respond, the NIH is hindering Congress from exercising its Constitutionally mandated oversight responsibilities and not being accountable to the American people.

The latest letter to Dr. Tabak builds on the Committee’s investigation of the adequacy of the NIH’s oversight of research it funds that may pose significant biosafety or biosecurity risks.

As written in the letter, “in the event that NIH does not provide documents by that date, the Committee will be forced to consider compulsory process to secure production of the requested documents.”

Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Director National Institutes of Health

Dr. Tabak:

Pursuant to Rules X and XI of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Committee is investigating the adequacy of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) oversight of NIH-funded research that may pose significant biosafety or biosecurity risks.

On May 1, 2023, in order to be able to assess the adequacy of the NIH’s oversight of potential risky research activities such as virus mutation or manipulation in experiments involving SARS, MERS, or SARS CoV-2, we requested information and documents. We are following up on this request. It has since been over three months, and we have no meaningful evidence that the NIH is responding to this request.

Given this lack of response and the lack of meaningful engagement with committee staff to provide a document production, we request that the NIH provide responsive documents by no later than August 31, 2023. In the event that NIH does not provide documents by that date, the Committee will be forced to consider compulsory process to secure production of the requested documents.

If you have any questions, please contact the Oversight and Investigations Majority staff at (202) 225-3641. Thank you for your attention to this request.

  1. Our government is not functional. Now republicans are threatening to fine HHS a million dollars per day:

But of course HHS has no money other than money provided by taxpayers, so these two idiots are pretending that this wouldn’t penalize taxpayers. We are trapped in a swirling vortex of stupidity and corruption by two worse-than-useless political parties.

    1. William Bayer,

      Always ask, regarding formation
      of policy :

Is it a MORAL Hazard ?—e.g.,
      regarding Root Cause of
      today’s push for Socialist-/
      Communist-like policies

      – Planting Moral Hazards Everywhere –

Marxian Libertine Liberals’ Secret Revolutionary Methodology

      Destroying Western Civilization

Leftists drive Western civilization towards socialism/communism, by creating
moral hazards everywhere, and which revolutionary methodology was exposed
      in secret communist documents.

Read the below excerpts from those documents, captured by Western allies in Dusseldorf, Germany, in 1919, one of which is headlined as follows :

      — “Communist Rules for Revolution” —

Study these rules and compare each one to the social/cultural/sexual/political/
financial changes in American civilization (and in all other Western democracies)
these past six decades, effected by Marxian social engineers—by Libertine Liberals’
      anything-goes TOLERANCE and DIVERSITY movements/programs :

“Corrupt the young; get them away from religion. Get them interested in sex. Make them superficial; destroy their ruggedness. Get control of all means of publicity; thereby, 1) get people’s minds off their government by focusing their attention on athletics, sexy books and plays and other trivialities. 2) Divide the people’s faith in their natural leaders by holding the latter up to contempt and ridicule. 3) Always preach true democracy, but seize power as fast and as ruthlessly as possible. 4) By encouraging government extravagance, destroy its credit, produce fear of inflation with rising prices and general discontent. 5) Promote unnecessary strikes in vital industries, encourage civil disorder and foster a lenient and soft attitude on the part of the government toward such disorders. 6) By specious argument, cause the breakdown of the old moral virtue, honesty and sobriety…Cause the registration of all fire arms on some pretext with a view to confiscate them, leaving the population helpless . . . ”

As Libertine Liberals trash the white male cartoon character, Homer Simpson—who would say of socialist/communist Obama’s advancing anti-white/anti-Western/anti-capitalist/anti-Christian, pro-minority/pro-Eastern/pro-socialist/pro-communist/pro-Muslim social-engineering schemes :

  2. while the word ‘tabak’/’tabac’ (Dutch; German; French) translates as tobacco (English), it’s interesting to see the director of the NIH’s last name is Tabak. can’t be very healthy.
