(POLL) 46% give news media ‘poor’ rating for coverage of most important issues

Inflation and illegal immigration are top issues among U.S. voters and the most important in the upcoming presidential election; yet, the news media get “poor” marks for their coverage of these issues.

That’s according to the latest Rasmussen Reports.

The national survey found that 32% of likely U.S. voters say inflation will be the most important issue in this year’s presidential election.

Twenty-three percent (23%) think illegal immigration is the most important issue, while 18% believe the top issue is abortion rights.

Other issues rank in single digits as being most important – violent crime (7%), climate change (6%), the war in Ukraine (5%), the Israel-Palestinian conflict (4%) and student loan debt (2%).

In a YouTube video that went viral last week, longtime Democratic strategist James Carville ranted about young voters obsessed with fringe issues, saying they “are being insufficiently served by the commentariat.

Only 28% of voters rate the national news media as doing a “good” or “excellent” job in terms of covering the most important issues, while 46% give the media a “poor” rating.

  1. george fate eady

the media’s is jest bought and owned don’t blame the payed workers blame the bosses that is where the big money is being spent

  2. The legacy (drive by) media is a satellite operation of the national security apparatus. National security is their name. “Security” is a matter of perspective. My opinion is the security is for their influence. Influence is the mission of the drive by media on behalf of the national security apparatus.

  3. I’m not surprised that main stream media gets a poor rating of 46% for covering important issues. I don’t understand why it is only 46%. The difference between our main stream media and Russian TASS & Pravda is that TASS (official central information) & Pravda was the official newspaper of the central committee of the communist party of the Soviet Union while our MSM is unofficial and is made up of multiple newspapers, but they appear to serve the same function.
