55% think Democrats should dump Biden after disastrous debate

A majority of voters say they believe President Joe Biden clearly lost to former President Donald Trump in last week’s televised debate. They also say they think it’s time for the Democrats to find a replacement for Biden as their candidate.

That’s according to Rasmussen Reports.

The survey found that 57% of likely voters say they believe Trump won the June 27 debate, while just 22% say they think Biden won. Another 21% say they are not sure who won the debate.

After the debate, many commentators – joined this week by Texas Democratic Rep. Lloyd Doggett – said that they think Biden should step aside as this year’s presidential candidate and let the Democratic Party choose another candidate.

Fifty-five percent (55%) of voters say they agree that Biden should step aside, including 38% who say they “strongly agree.”

Thirty-six percent (36%) say they disagree with suggestions that Biden should step aside in favor of another candidate, including 21% who say they “strongly disagree.”

Importantly, nearly half (48%) of Democratic voters say they at least somewhat agree that Biden should step aside and let the Democratic Party choose another candidate, as do 62% of Republicans and 56% of voters not affiliated with either major party.

Forty-five percent (45%) of Democrats, 31% of Republicans and 30% of unaffiliated voters say they disagree with the suggestion that Biden step aside.

  1. Democrats couldn’t care less about what the majority of Americans think… they have no thought about this country’s welfare or that of its citizens… only of themselves.
