Voters overwhelmingly approve of President Joe Biden’s decision not to continue running for a second term, and a majority also agree that he should resign from office now.
That’s according to Rasmussen Reports.
The survey found that 76% of likely voters said they approved of Biden’s decision to end his reelection campaign, including 53% who said they “strongly approved.” Just 18% said they disapproved of Biden ending his campaign.
In a press release issued immediately after Biden’s announcement that he was dropping out of the race, House Speaker Mike Johnson said: “If Joe Biden is not fit to run for President, he is not fit to serve as President. He must resign the office immediately.”
Fifty-two percent (52%) of voters said they agreed with that statement, including 36% who said they”strongly agreed.”
Forty-four percent (44%) said they disagreed with Johnson’s demand that Biden resign “immediately,” including 31% who “strongly disagreed.”
