A recent Rasmussen Reports survey shows that a majority of likely voters support former President Donald Trump’s assertion in his second inaugural address that “the golden age of America begins right now.” Fifty-two percent (52%) of respondents say they agree, including 33% who say they strongly agree. Meanwhile, 41% say they disagree, with 34% strongly disagreeing.
The survey also shows that many voters hold favorable opinions of Trump’s inaugural address. Forty-five percent (45%) of voters say they rate the speech as excellent or good, while 29% give it a poor rating, and 17% say they are are undecided. Among those who say they watched the entire address, 85% rate it as good or excellent.
Partisan differences emerge in the responses. Republicans overwhelmingly support Trump’s statement, with 85% saying they agree, compared to 27% of Democrats and 43% of independent voters. Republicans were also more likely to watch the address, with 52% saying they viewed it in full, compared to 20% of Democrats and 26% of independents.
Trump’s proposal to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the “Gulf of America” sparked significant debate. Forty percent (40%) of likely voters say they approve of the idea, while 50% say they disapprove.
The Rasmussen Reports survey polled 1,245 likely US voters between January 21-23, 2025. The margin of error is +/- 3 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
