The following is from Rasmussen Reports.
A new Rasmussen Reports poll finds that 77% of likely US voters say they believe requiring photo identification to vote is a reasonable measure to protect election integrity. This marks an increase from 74% in 2021. Only 17% say they disagree.
Support for voter ID laws remains strong across party lines, with 86% of Republicans, 69% of Democrats, and 75% of unaffiliated voters saying they favor the requirement. Last month, Trump suggested making federal emergency aid to California contingent on the state enacting a voter ID law, a measure that enjoys broad bipartisan support.
Most voters also reject claims that voter ID laws are discriminatory. Only 30% say such laws discriminate against some voters, while 60% say they do not.
The survey of 1,229 likely voters was conducted from January 26-28, 2025, and has a margin of sampling error of ±3 percentage points.
