A new Rasmussen Reports poll finds that 46% of likely U.S. voters say they believe Trump has been good for the Republican Party, while 41% say he has been bad for the GOP. Another 8% say he has not made much of a difference.
Among Republicans, 79% say they believe Trump has been good for their party, while 23% of Democrats and 39% of unaffiliated voters say the same. Meanwhile, 64% of Democrats say they think Trump has been bad for the GOP, compared to 15% of Republicans and 43% of unaffiliated voters.
Republicans hold a seven-point net positive favorability rating, while Democrats have a four-point net negative rating. 46% of voters say they have a favorable opinion of Democrats, while a majority, 50%, say they view Democrats unfavorably.
The poll also reveals differences across demographics. A majority of white voters, 51%, say they believe Trump has been good for the GOP, while 40% of black voters and 36% of Hispanic voters say the same. Among men, 51% say they think Trump has been good for the party, compared to 41% of women.
The survey of 1,229 likely voters was conducted from February 3-5, 2025, and has a margin of sampling error of ±3 percentage points.
