The following is from Rasmussen Reports.
A new Rasmussen Reports poll finds that 53% of likely US voters say they approve of President Donald Trump’s decision to end diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies in the federal government, including 39% who say they strongly approve. Meanwhile, 42% say they disapprove, including 29% who say they strongly disapprove.
On the day of his second-term inauguration, Trump announced he would “terminate every diversity, equity, and inclusion program across the entire federal government.”
Approval for ending DEI policies varies significantly by party. Seventy-six percent (76%) of Republicans say they approve of the move, compared to 28% of Democrats and 55% of unaffiliated voters. Meanwhile, 52% of Democrats say they strongly disapprove, but only 10% of Republicans and 24% of unaffiliated voters share that opinion.
Familiarity with DEI also influences opinions. Eighty percent (80%) of voters say they are familiar with DEI policies, including 44% who say they are very familiar. Among those who say they are very familiar with DEI, 56% say they strongly approve of Trump ending these programs.
The survey of 1,188 likely U.S. voters was conducted on February 16-18, 2025, with a margin of error of ±3 percentage points.
