A new Rasmussen Reports survey finds that 64% of likely voters say they support President Trump’s policy of deporting members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, including 47% who say they strongly support it. Twenty-six percent (26%) say they are opposed, with 16% who strongly oppose.
Trump declared Tren de Aragua a foreign terrorist organization and invoked the Alien Enemies Act to deport its members. However, a federal judge, James Boasberg, issued an injunction to stop the deportations. Forty-nine percent (49%) of voters say they believe Judge Boasberg should be impeached. Twenty-four percent (24%) disagree, while 27% say they are unsure.
Fifty-three percent (53%) of voters say Trump is doing a good or excellent job handling immigration-related issues, while 33% say he is doing a poor job. Among those who strongly support deporting Tren de Aragua, 79% say Trump is doing an excellent job.
Eighty-nine percent (89%) of Republicans, 43% of Democrats and 64% of unaffiliated voters say they support Trump’s deportation policy. Twenty-eight percent (28%) of Democrats say they strongly oppose the deportations, compared to just 5% of Republicans and 14% of unaffiliated voters.
Support for impeaching the judge includes 74% of Republicans, 28% of Democrats and 47% of unaffiliated voters.
Ninety-four percent (94%) of those who voted for Trump say they support his deportation policy. A majority of Kamala Harris voters—53%—say they oppose it.
