(POLL) Trump starts strong: 51% approved of his first full month

The following is from Rasmussen Reports.

Presidential approval ratings often fluctuate from day to day, but looking at the full-month trend provides a clearer picture of how voters viewed the president’s performance. Rasmussen Reports tracks these numbers monthly, offering insight into how President Trump’s approval compared over time.

In his first full month in office, 51% of likely US voters approved of Trump’s job performance, while 46% disapproved. His monthly approval index for February was -1, based on 37% who strongly approved and 38% who strongly disapproved.

Among Republicans, 63% strongly approved of Trump’s job performance, while 61% of Democrats strongly disapproved. Among unaffiliated voters, 34% strongly approved, while 38% strongly disapproved.

By comparison, Trump’s first full-month approval rating in 2017 was 55% approval, 45% disapproval. Meanwhile, Biden’s first full-month approval in 2021 was 53%, with an approval index of -5—a number that continued to decline throughout his presidency.

When Biden first took office in January 2021, he earned a full-month Approval Index rating of -5 after his first full month. But his approval only worsened from there. In 2022, Biden’s Approval Index hit its all-time low of -29 twice. During his final full month in office, his rating stood at -20.

Rasmussen’s monthly approval tracking is based on approximately 8,000 interviews each month with likely voters. The margin of error is less than ±1 percentage point with a 95% confidence level.
