(POLL) Voters blame Trump more than Zelenskyy for White House clash

A new Rasmussen Reports survey finds that most likely voters view Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy favorably, with 53% holding a positive opinion of him, up from 46% in May 2024.

A February 28 meeting between Zelenskyy and President Donald Trump at the White House turned contentious, with Trump accusing Zelenskyy of showing “disrespect” to the United States. According to the survey, 45% say Trump is more to blame for the dispute, while 34% say Zelenskyy is at fault. Another 15% say they are equally responsible.

Among those with a “very favorable” view of Zelenskyy, 86% say Trump is to blame for the disagreement. Additionally, 61% of Democrats hold Trump responsible, while 58% of Republicans say Zelenskyy is more to blame. Among unaffiliated voters, 47% blame Trump, compared to 31% who blame Zelenskyy.

Regarding Trump’s ability to negotiate an end to the Russia-Ukraine war, 49% of voters say it is likely, including 28% who say it is “very likely.” Meanwhile, 42% say a peace deal is unlikely. The belief in Trump’s negotiating ability varies by party: 80% of Republicans say he is likely to broker an agreement, compared to just 26% of Democrats and 43% of unaffiliated voters.

The survey of 1,090 likely US voters was conducted from March 4-6, 2025, with a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points.

  1. I agree, what president of USA would do and say those things to another ELECTED president of another country? In front of cameras carrying it world wide! NONE.
Trump was totally wrong. Like daddy scolding a child. It was disgraceful!

  2. I had read Zelensky met with Dem leaders before meeting, he did actually campaign for Harris also. Both questionable moves, but the speed with which the claim of it being a trap set by Trump is more then a little suspicious. The guy was pushy arrogant and certainly not open to much that he had already agreed to to get him to the white house. It is amazing to me how much polls still tend to follow claims of MSM proven very bias again and again

I too am on Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s side since he’s the first Ukranian to step up and take charge along with the risks that go with it. I also understand that the United States cannot become directly involved since we are a member of NATO.
Trump often has a loose tongue and this is one example of such…

  4. It’s hard to believe that so many are unable to see how poorly Zelensky handled that meeting. That he would, without the President’s knowledge, meet with Democrats beforehand who told him not to do what he had already promised to do is duplicitous. He kept poking, poking, poking Trump to do what Trump had made clear that he would not do, apparently in the belief that Trump would cave in front of the cameras. And Zelensky insulted VP Vance to his face. He behaved abominably and seriously miscalculated how Trump would react. Perhaps someone less direct and transparent than Trump would have smoothed things over, but I appreciate Trump’s directness and unwillingness to be pushed around.

  5. Catching the final few minutes of a much longer conversation is what has caused the dumbing down of the nation. Zelenskyy was defiant early on and if you watch his body language, arms crossed stiff back, you could tell he was not there for a peace talk. The lame stream media is complicit in more TDS by only playing the final spate. Zelenskyy has been disrepecting of Trump and the US people long before Trump won in November. Even Biden had a tiff with the midget dictator.
I believe we will soon learn of the abuses and corruption in Ukraine. All Trump wants is an end to the killing.

  6. Both engaged in requisite theater at this point- on the public stage for their own interests. Name of the game. There is no fault for either. Just one more step as a means to an end. This entire Ukraine scam has no heroes any step of the way; just a path to the end game.

Blaming Trump who is exercising every power he can to stop this darn thing is the last person to blame at this point for anything. Blame Auto-Pen for signing all the blank checks to Ukraine and not asking for any receipts.
