More Americans now say immigration problem is most important issue facing US

(POLL) 66% agree: Deport illegal immigrants to ‘liberate’ America

The following is from Rasmussen Reports.

A new Rasmussen Reports survey finds a strong majority of likely US voters say they support President Donald Trump’s policy of deporting foreign criminals. A majority also say they agree with a direct call by El Salvador’s president to “liberate” America by enforcing the law.

Seventy-nine percent (79%) say it’s important that illegal immigrants who commit crimes in the US be deported. That includes 56% who say it’s very important. Just 17% say it’s not important.

During a recent White House visit, El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele told President Trump, “You cannot just free the criminals and think crime is going to go down magically… you have to imprison [criminals] so you can liberate 350 million Americans.” Sixty-six percent (66%) say they agree with that quote, including 43% who say they strongly agree. Only 21% say they disagree.

Among political groups, 90% of Republicans, 69% of Democrats, and 76% of unaffiliated voters say it is at least somewhat important to deport illegal immigrant lawbreakers. When it comes to Bukele’s quote, 83% of Republicans, 51% of Democrats, and 62% of unaffiliated voters say they at least somewhat agree.

Ninety-two percent (92%) of those who voted for Trump in last year’s election believe it’s important that illegal immigrants who commit crimes in America should be deported, as do 64% of Kamala Harris voters.
