The following is from Rasmussen Reports.
A new Rasmussen Reports survey finds that voters remain sharply divided on President Donald Trump’s handling of the economy compared to that of his predecessor, Joe Biden.
Forty-seven percent (47%) say Trump’s economic policy is better than Biden’s, while 44% say it’s worse. Just six percent (6%) say there is no difference between the two.
Even on the issue of inflation, where rates spiked under Biden, views are almost evenly split. Forty-five percent (45%) say Trump’s approach to inflation is better, but 44% say it’s worse. Eight percent (8%) say there’s no difference.
When it comes to job creation, voters are again evenly divided: 43% say Trump’s policy is better, 43% say it’s worse, and 9% see no difference.
Overall, 46% of voters rate Trump’s handling of economic issues as good or excellent, while 43% rate it as poor. In comparison, a December 2023 Rasmussen survey showed just 37% gave Biden a good or excellent rating on economic issues.
Among Republicans, 76% give Trump good or excellent marks on the economy. That number falls to just 23% among Democrats, two-thirds (67%) of whom rate him poorly. Independent voters are closely split: 41% rate Trump good or excellent, and 43% say poor.
Similarly, 75% of Republicans believe Trump’s economic policy is better than Biden’s. In contrast, 69% of Democrats say Trump’s policy is worse. Among unaffiliated voters, the split is narrow again: 45% better, 44% worse.
Among those who voted for Trump in last year’s election, 83% give him good or excellent ratings for his economic performance. Meanwhile, 82% of Kamala Harris voters give Trump a poor rating.
