The following is from Gallup News.
Ten years after the Supreme Court’s Obergefell v. Hodges ruling legalized same-sex marriage nationwide, Gallup finds that overall public support remains steady—but the partisan divide has reached record levels.
According to the poll, 68% of Americans support legal recognition of same-sex marriage, a figure that has remained relatively unchanged since 2021. However, this apparent stability conceals a significant partisan shift. Republican support has dropped 14 points since 2022, now sitting at 41%—the lowest since 2016. Meanwhile, Democrat support has reached a new high at 88%, and 76% of independents remain supportive.

The resulting 47-point gap between Republicans and Democrats marks the widest partisan divide Gallup has recorded on the issue since it began tracking in 1996.
Gallup also reports that 64% of Americans consider same-sex relations to be morally acceptable—a figure consistent with the past three years but down from a peak of 71% in 2022. Again, partisan differences are sharp: 86% of Democrats say same-sex relations are morally acceptable, compared to just 38% of Republicans.
Demographic breakdowns show broader support among women, younger adults, and college graduates, while those who attend religious services weekly show the lowest levels of support for both same-sex marriage and relations.
Despite broad national support, Gallup notes growing concern over the future of same-sex marriage rights. Justice Clarence Thomas, in a 2022 opinion, urged reconsideration of past rulings like Obergefell, and some Republican-led states have introduced measures to challenge the decision. These moves suggest the issue may re-emerge in legal and political battles ahead.

Isn’t the minute we decide to define marriage by sexual orientation the minute we allow religious bias into our Constitution? If we are a nation that respects religious expression as a right, then we must be tolerant in our definition of marriage. Much like freedom of speech, it is not just allowing speech we agree with – it is about allowing freedom of thought and respectful expression, even when we disagree with each other. What two consenting adults do in the privacy of their bedroom is not my business as long as they uphold the law. Who are we to define marriage? Republicans will lose their newly acquired base if the Dems start to be Dems again because many who shifted to the right because the left became leftist do not like to be proselytized to. Much like MLK stated that we need to be colorblind, we need to be similarly blind on who gets to marry who. I have been married for over 35 years and have seen arranged marriages and same sex marriages that bring the same level of love and respect to that partnership as the traditional man/woman marriage. Marital relationships and being able to get married should not be politicized.
TK,
Christian religion had informed
the writings in the Declaration
of Independence, the Preamble
( the purposes for which the
Constitution was written ), and
in the Constitution.
By the way, this one clause in the
Preamble negates everyone of
Leftists’ social-engineering
programs, including FORCED
INTEGRATION via Board of
Education‘s tragic outcomes :
“ . . . ensure domestic tranquility . . . “
ProgComs ( progressive Commies )
used the Preamble’s welfare clause
to effect this massive, civilization-
destroying WELFARE System.
Please explain, TK, to what extent
FORCED INTEGRATION of public
schools has effected any degree of
TRANQUILITY for the progeny of
the WHITE Founders/Framers of
the Constitution ?
Recall “Mass Resistance”—very
wise, those Whites.
Whitey’s on the run ! . . . from public
education.
Think more deeply, folks !
