(POLL) Voters back strikes on Iran’s nukes, not regime change

The following is from Rasmussen Reports.

A clear majority of American voters say they support limited US military involvement in the Iran-Israel conflict, focused solely on eliminating Iran’s nuclear threat—not on removing its government.

That’s according to the latest Rasmussen Reports national survey. Fifty-seven percent (57%) of likely voters say the US military should only target Iran’s nuclear weapons sites. Just 24% say the US should pursue “regime change” to end the Islamic dictatorship in Tehran. Eighteen percent (18%) say they are not sure.

The survey was conducted after Saturday’s strike on three Iranian nuclear facilities. Seventy-five percent (75%) of voters say Iran is a serious threat to the United States, including 41% who say the threat is very serious. Nineteen percent (19%) say Iran is not a serious threat.

Among those who believe the US should only target Iran’s nuclear weapons, 76% also say Iran is a serious threat.

There is broad bipartisan agreement that Iran poses a danger. Seventy-seven percent (77%) of Republicans, 76% of Democrats, and 71% of unaffiliated voters say Iran is a serious threat. Republicans are most likely to say the threat is very serious.

On the question of US military goals, 61% of Republicans, 55% of Democrats, and 56% of unaffiliated voters say the military should limit its action to Iran’s nuclear program. Support for regime change is lower across the board, with 27% of Republicans, 25% of Democrats, and 21% of unaffiliated voters saying they support removing the regime in Tehran.

Among 2024 voters, 50% of those who voted for Donald Trump say Iran is a very serious threat, compared to 36% of Kamala Harris voters who say the same.

  1. Regime change must come from within Iran. Only when the people of a nation force regime change will it be effective.
History shows that outside forces pushing regime change has had terrible results, including times the US pushed for regime change.
Trump has clearly stated the US will not be forcing regime change in Iran. The mission was to take out Iran’s nuclear weapons capability, mission accomplished.
