Trump order extends TikTok deadline to divest or face ban

Executive Order on Further Extending the TikTok Enforcement Delay

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act (Public Law 118-50), and in order to further extend the enforcement deadline under section 3(a)(i) of that Act for certain foreign adversary controlled applications to allow for the completion of a potential transaction to divest such applications from foreign adversary control, it is hereby ordered as follows:

Section 1. Further Extension of Enforcement Deadline.
(a) The enforcement deadline in section 3(a)(i) of the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act with respect to the foreign adversary controlled application identified in Executive Order 14117 of May 15, 2024 (Protecting Americans’ Sensitive Data from Foreign Adversary Threats), is further extended by 90 days, from June 20, 2025, to September 18, 2025.

(b) This extension applies only to the application identified in Executive Order 14117 and does not alter or affect any other deadline, requirement, or provision of the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act.

Sec. 2. General Provisions.
(a) Nothing in this order shall be construed to impair or otherwise affect:

(i) the authority granted by law to an executive department or agency, or the head thereof; or
(ii) the functions of the Director of the Office of Management and Budget relating to budgetary, administrative, or legislative proposals.

(b) This order shall be implemented consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations.

(c) This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.
