The following is from Rasmussen Reports.
Democrats have expanded their lead over Republicans in the latest forecast for the 2026 midterm elections.
According to the newest Rasmussen Reports survey, 46% of likely US voters say they would vote for the Democratic candidate if the election were held today, while 42% say they would choose the Republican. Another 4% say they would vote for some other candidate, and 8% are undecided.
This marks a net three-point gain for Democrats since May, when they led by just one point, 45% to 44%. Republicans now trail by seven points compared to their position just before last November’s election, when they held a 48% to 45% lead and went on to secure a narrow House majority.
Democrats currently hold a seven-point advantage among independent voters. Partisan loyalty remains strong, with 86% of Democrats and 85% of Republicans saying they would vote for their own party’s candidate.
Among ideological groups, 85% of liberals say they would vote for the Democratic candidate, while 73% of conservatives say they would vote Republican. Moderates favor Democrats by a 22-point margin, 52% to 30%.
Eighty-seven percent of those who voted for Kamala Harris in last year’s presidential election say they would vote Democrat in next year’s congressional races, while 83% of Donald Trump voters say they would support Republican candidates.
Many voters give Trump low ratings on economic issues, although he continues to enjoy strong support from Republican voters. Support for amnesty for illegal immigrants has reportedly increased since last year, though few voters say they believe Trump would allow it.
The survey of 2,288 likely voters was conducted July 13–17 and 20, 2025. The margin of sampling error is ±2 percentage points.

The voters polled must not be paying attention or continue to trust the leftist media. This economy is doing very well and has been despite the left narrative we are heading for a recession. Even Bill Maher had to concede the economy is trucking along quite nicely and tariffs are bringing in more revenue than they ever have.
I understand many do not like Trump’s personality but when the tax cuts kick in, likely another boost to the economy, most people will vote their wallets.
Rasmussen should ask more focused questions to get factual figures.
Liberals always vote democratic.
They don’t think logically. I’m a liberal so I must vote for any democrat. They do such a lousy job but I don’t care.
Just have a look back at Biden and the damage he’s done in four years.
I hope voters are smart in 26 midterms.
Normal percentage is 3% which is a wider margin than 2% here we give again folks the dems are going what they do best lie and cheat!! Rasmussen you should know better!!
